I have to say, I respect him all the more for this. I haven't seen, nor read the play, but it sounds disturbing and evocative at the same time. I think that is a great thing for a play to be. Now I find that I want to read the script. I've always been impressed that Mr. Radcliffe seems older than his real age. I wouldn't look upon him as a sex object, (I'm way to old) but I don't think that was the point of the play. It is after all a play not a porno LOL.

'bite me brit'...uh, did you even read his post? 'Mac' was only making a comparison between frivolous sex/nudity and sex/nudity that can be 'artistic'. Some of us, don't see nudity/sex as a bad thing. It's not evil. It's not pornographic. I totally agree with 'mac' on this. He said it perfectly. I'm a Daniel/Potter fan and reports have been noted that Dan is making very little money doing Equus. So, I'm going out on a limb here, just MAYBE he isn't doing it for the money? Ever think of that? That he took the role because he wanted to be in a challenging and fantastic play? You obviously have a serious issue with nudity. So don't go see films or plays with it. Problem solved. Obviously, Daniel doesn't have a problem with it or he wouldn't have taken the role. He probably realises that many people out there are not going to sling mud at him and that there will be some people that loathe his choice. If you're going to hold that against him, a decent actor who will undoubtedly put out wonderful films (with/without nudity/sex), then that's your problem. Are people going to boycott every actor/film that contains nudity/sex? Give me a break! I think it's rather shallow to have a fit over something as trivial as this. If it bugs you that much, and you hate him because of it, then fine. Go stick to PG films that make you feel comfortable. I'd like to note that people having a tizzy fit over Dan being naked as an adult (UK) didn't seem to have much issue with him APPEARING nude in Goblet of Fire. Uh, that was kinda of a kinky scene if you ask me( very funny, imo). You're given the impression that a 14 year old boy is naked (who wears shorts in the bathtub? anyone?)in the bath with a female ghost spying on him and seeing his nether regions below the water. Explain that one to me. But that's okay, because it's only IMPLIED nudity of a boy. Had that been Hermione, HOLY SH*%#! People would have had a cow. But it's a boy so it's okay. HYPOCRITS! It's all so friggin' stupid to me. Bottom line, if you have this big an issue with nudity/sex...don't go see films that have it...change the channel on your tv and don't go to a play that has it. If you're going to hate an actor because they choose to do nudity or sex... then go find another celebrity to idolize.

Gosh, you people are really something. It's comments like this that continue eating disorders and unrealistic body images. So the girl has a bit a cellulite. Don't we all? I think she looks good. I saw another picture where she and Dan are entwined. She's very pretty. In that interview with the actress, she said: "I'd be lying if I said there wasn't any pressure to be skinny, but I hate it. Our job is to play real people, not models. If I am going on stage naked, I don't want to perpetuate these size zero expectations. I don't want to be part of that. I want to look strong and healthy." Thank God someone doesn't want to look like a walking toothpick! Good girl. I like what she said about the nudity, too (since people have their panties in a twist about it):"When we first started rehearsing, it became a joke between us. But the nudity isn't gratuitous. It is beautiful and necessary to the play. When we're naked on stage, it's not me and Dan, it's the characters and it's our job to honour the play. I think in a lot of people's minds he's still Harry Potter. I'd read the first two Harry Potter books and I'd seen Dan in some of the films, so it was weird to begin with, but we're over that now. Luckily, I feel very comfortable with Dan. He and I get on really well and that definitely helps create a relaxed atmosphere in rehearsals. Because we both appear naked on stage, we feel like we can support each other. There's a lot of pressure and I am sure Dan feels it too." Sheesh...she seems like a decent girl, and I always thought Dan was a good guy. Why is everyone picking on them? What the heck have they every done to you people? Give it a rest. How would you like people nitpicking you apart? I see no problem with Dan taking adult roles AND still playing Harry. He's a good actor. Good looking too! :-D

Like I said, READ THE PLAY before you criticize. It is NOT about sex. There is nothing sexy about it. Period. As I said previously, Equus isn't about nudity and meaningless sex. The so-called sex scene doesn't even involve sex at all. The nudity is Alan (Radcliffe) bearing himself before his "god" Equus (the horse). The boy has a religious/erotic fixation with horses but that's just the tip of what's wrong with him. It's truly a sad story and a brilliant character for Radcliffe to take on. I agree that some stars use sex appeal to advance their careers. I must disagree that this is what Radcliffe is doing. He's a handsome lad, and I wish I looked that good at 17 but that's besides the point. When you compare Britney wearing nothing more than a see-through body stocking in a music video, Paris wearing nothing at all because she thinks 'thats hot' or young stars doing gratuitous sex scenes for the sake of just having a sex scene in a movie. There's a huge difference. I'm a fan of old Hollywood where less is more. I don't want to watch pornographic sex in a movie. I really don't. As an artist, I don't have a problem with nudity. I think the human body is very beauitful. Now, I'm not talking about a film having naked people just for the crap of it. Nudity can have meaning and beauty. Again, in Equus, it all has meaning. If people would take the time to understand the play and characters, they probably wouldn't so upset about it. My daughter just read an interview with Radcliffe, and he isn't making millions on the play. Quite the opposite. He took a DRASTIC pay cut not only on this but the two other films he has lined up. So obviously, he isn't doing it for the money. Unlike young Hollywood, if they get a spread in Playboy or a sexy scene they'll get more attention, etc. He doesn't need that. To me it seems he genuinely is passionate about acting and wanting to test his abilities. Should he only take 'family friendly' roles to play it safe for the sake of you? Frankly, I think the media would have treated him more harshly had he made teen/fluffy films. Saying he doesn't have range and can't be viewed as anything but Harry. Roles like Equus really challenge that stereotype. Is he really a good actor and not some kid that just got a lucky break playing one character? I think 'playing Harry-esque' roles during or after Potter would be career suicide for him. He will be forever typecasted. What if he chose to play a villian? That would certainly rub some people the wrong way. The problem is people view Radcliffe as a FICTIONAL character. I don't think Equus will change how he plays Harry Potter. Personally, I think it would be beyond stupid of Warner Bros. to replace him with only two films left. Daniel made that character and neither I or my family will go see the last two films without him. I cannot picture another actor playing Harry. But I'm not arrogant enough to say what other roles the actor is allowed to play. Regardless of the actor, if it's a film that doesn't interest me, I won't go see it. I'm pleased that Radlcliffe is actively seeking out challenging and interesting work rather than banking only on his Potter fame and putting out cheesy and forgettable films just to make money. I find that far more interesting and admirable of him. I just don't see why we're ranting on a talented young actor when I would rather rid the entertainment world of talentless bimbos *cough* Paris Hilton *cough* who do nothing for society or art.

Mac Says:
Grow up "bite me brit"! First of all, British tv isn't all about sex. I should know I lived there for 7 years. Frankly, I think American's (I am one, thank you) are some of the most sexually repressed hypocrits in the world. We shove our morals down everyone else's throats and yet we have children that idolize Britney, Lindsay and Paris that practically are nude every where they go and have the combined IQ of 30. Sex is everywhere in our media and entertainment but we have the audacity to say we don't like it or don't watch it. We have half naked guys all over the place so why is it such a big deal that Radcliffe bears it for a play that American's are not even going to see? He is a legal adult in his country. Regardless, no one seemed to mind Britney dressing/acting like a bleep when she was a teenager. NO, that was apparently sexy. Paris' porno flick is what made her famous. Who are we to judge Radcliffe? At least he's respected by his peers. He's a talented young man who is challenging himself as an actor. From what I've heard, he's a decent lad that's intelligent and mature. He doesn't have a bad reputation for drugs, alcohol, being promiscuous like our young Hollywood 'stars', etc. Equus isn't meaningless sex and nudity. I suggest people actually read the play before they criticize. The nudity is brief but necessary to story. There isn't "sex" in it, either. This isn't a play for children. It's about the deeply troubled psychosis of a young man with a religious/erotic fixation and his relationship with his doctor. It's a beautiful and moving play. However, shallow people will never get past "it has nudity". There is nothing wrong with nudity of the human form. People in America have gone as far as call classic art like the statue of David, pornography. Did this country take a stupid pill in the last few decades? There is no creativity in art anymore because we have the 'moral' police condemning everything. When did we regress back to the 50's? If you people expect Radcliffe to remain a boy and a fictional character forever, then I say you have the problem, not him. Not everyone wants to watch PG rated Disney-esque films either. If you don't want your child to see "harry potter" in an adult role, don't take them or change the channel. Be a freaking parent. Educate your child when they ask questions or choose to shield them. My mother didn't allow me to see certain films until I was "mature" enough to handle it and I apply the same rule to my children. My children adore Daniel. I would rather have them idolize him than the most of the idiots splashed on the tabloids these days. Make no mistake your children aren't as naive as you might believe. Were you at that age? I'm learning that everyday as a father. I'm a grown man and have the complete respect for Radcliffe. He will be an actor whose career I will watch with interest. Someone who isn't content with being stereotyped and has actively taken charge of his career at a young age. Bravo to him!

I cannot believe how cruel people can be. Sexy or Creepy? Are you serious? It would be creepy if he were 11 years old. He isn't a little boy anymore! He is NOT Harry Potter. Is he not allowed to grow up and become a sensual man?
He is shy of 18 but he's legal in the UK and from what I've read, we Brits don't seem to have a problem with this. Why are Americans so freaked out? He can't stay a child forever nor should he be expected to be Harry-bloody-Potter either. He is an actor and a damn fine one.
I APPLAUD him for challenging that stereotype and furthering his career with an AMAZING play. Had he waited until Potter was over, Dan would have a far more difficult time shedding that image of Harry. This is a brilliant career move. Should a child see Equus? Heavens no. Apparently many adults criticizing Dan haven't a clue about the play either. All they see is nudity and a horse. Forget that it's won many awards and involved iconic actors such as Sir Anthony Hopkins and Richard Burton in the past. Hollywood culture has almost completely removed any semblence of genuine creativity from art. "Original" is starting to mean "slightly different," and anything that's truly original is either "artsy crap" or "innappropriate."
Daniel is the real deal. God knows I'd rather hear more about him than the daily dramas of Paris, Lindsay, Britney and the pathetic so-called "stars" clogging up the media that get more publicity because of their antics than any talent they might posess.
As far as Dan's body goes, and this coming from a woman 10 years his senior, I think he looks amazing! It would have been creepy if he followed the 'norm' in Hollywood by getting veneered, shaved, bronzed and all muscled up. Dan looks like a real man his age...and yes, he is sexy.
I'm glad that Dan is challenging himself with roles such as Alan Strang than doing a string of forgettable teen flicks. I admire his intelligence, maturity and individualism. If he loses Potter fans along the way, who cares? Frankly, "family friendly" films are boring and stupid and thank goodness Dan has enough sense to want respect as an actor. It's hard enough for a child star to make that transition to adult actor without having to deal with this kind of crap from people.
I'm looking forward to more films from Daniel and when he shines in Equus, I hope the naysayers all eat crow.
Good luck, Dan!

any body who has ever studied theatre has heard of this play. and if you have in fact heard of Equus and actually read it or seen the play you will know that these pictures are nothing compared to what it is actually about. He is 17 and considered an adult in the UK. He cant be harry potter forever people!! besides, that is a character not who he is personally, just as these pictures portray a character. I say good for him, he will be brillant and he has the pictures to prove it ;)

Well as a 16, almost 17, year old girl i must say when i saw the pics i saved them to my computer and i have an altered one for my desktop and my mysace. I will always remeber dan as harry but he will do great things in the acting world and i only wish i was in london so i could see the play for myself and have a front row seat. Just because he is a baby to some of you doesnt mean he isnt around some of our ages... also its not like you can see everything up close on stang.. not that i would mind that. So get over yourselves and see dan as an actor not as harry potter

Skylar what is your problem? Did you not read CLIFT NOTES posted before the article? Plagiarism is when a person does not give credit to the author. I guess at your young age you do not know what CLIFF NOTES are. As for trubrit comment you are critasziming America for having a problem with a 17 yr old boy being naked infront of a audience full of adults. How dare Americans for having morals. Will this play stop me from seeing another Harry Potter movie; no way; will it stop me from seeing Daniel in a play with his cloth's on; no way; I just am not going to see him in this play.

I'm not turning in a term paper or making money off the clip I copied & pasted. I never even tried to say it came from me so credit was go to CLIFF NOTES that is why I put the name first Cliff Notes. Cliff Notes, Cliff Notes............I have no problem Daniel trying to show he is more of an actor than Harry Potter I think he is a great actor. My wish is that he waited until he was in his 20 to do it. Daniel grew up with my son and I can't get past if it was my son who wanted to do this kind of play I would say no. Being Naked is art I know that but personally I do not feel comfortable being in an audience when a 17 yr old is naked in front of me. This is my opinion and how I feel on the subject.

To Anonymous 1000...no, being naked and kissing men is not a British SAG membership requirement.....I think you are confusing it with the American SAGs. This is art and stage....he is 17, you Americans expect him to play a 12 year old forever.....now he has branched out....you are criticizing that he is not acting like a 12 year old (I guess you want 10 sequels of Harry Potter). British actors know how to grow up and mature. That is why American child actors end up on the dump heap....BTW, where IS Haley Joel Osment....maybe he should appear in Equus on the American stage, might do wonders for his career....ooops, sorry , forgot, he does not have a career anymore.
