maybe the mom was introverted if something was going on at home. sometimes people who are afraid to talk to others seem aloof or 'stuck up'

What a shame for Hayden, people don't just wake up one day after 20 years of marriage and hit thier wives, she's probably had to witness this her whole life and then to have it plastered all over the news, totally sucks for her.Lets hope her mom doesn't drop the charges and he has to really be held responsible!

Hayden is overrated

Abusers usually begin by manipulating and make you feel like you need them and need to please them. They don't have to even touch you, but they make you feel like you need their approval. Then they move on to the verbal abuse, making you feel low and worthless and like evrything is your fault so you try even harder to please him until the verbal abuse turns into physical abuse or worse.

I don't know if this is the case here - this could very well be an isolated case, but the fact that he hit her is certaintly not a good sign and yes, hitting his wife once does equal spousal abuse and it is definitely assault. Either way, putting a stop to it now is the best course of action to take. If Hayden's mom, Lesley can show her husband that she will not let him get away with hitting her even once, then she could be saving herself and her children a ton of pain.

As for those of you who slap your little brothers or sisters (or anyone else) in the face for being "annoying" or any other reason, please note that this could also be viewed as assault and even child abuse. You NEVER hit a child/anyone in the face! You should never really hit a child! At most, a smack (not hard) to the hand or arm usually gets the point across. Usually taking away TV, toys or video games does the trick.

Also, someone said Lesley should have just hit him back instead of whining to the cops. First she is not whining, she is protecting herself and in doing so, protecting her children. Second, had someone else called the cops, she would have also been arrested for assault if she hit him back. Third, two wrongs don't make a right. Aside from the fact that men and women should not be hitting each other, they do have a child at home and having his parents beating on each other is not the best environment for him.

3:32 , not a perfect relationship. We got on each other's nerves as children yes, even as adults, our share of arguments over the years, but we didn't hit each other as older children. But if we did I would agree that at least we were children and definitely by adulthood you should figure out other ways of dealing with problems.

3:20 PM IF you were SMART you would know that by hitting him you might have a MOMENT of satisfaction, but if you brought it up to your parents instead of hitting him only HE would be in trouble. Now you are BOTH in the WRONG!

Why did he violate your standards anyway if you don't seem to have any? Are you just upset he did it first then, or is hitting and vandalizing WRONG no matter who does it?

Its sibling squabbles. Not freaking assault. Sheesh. I used to have full out battles with my brother. Its part of the brother-sister relationship.

Being slapped period is abuse!! No one has the right to invade your private space and hit you - no matter who they are or how they're related to you. Get with the program people - who taught you that it's ok to slap someone else?

It always happens when the wife is attractive and the Bozo Dude gets too much alcohol in him. He then fantasizes about his own wife and projects the fantasy onto all the other guys at the party if they even breath near the woman. What a fool - Class A - put him in jail!

OMG how stupid are you? It always has been a crime! It's called assault! Whether it's the first time or the last time Hayden's mom needs to get away from that creep.

So the family is a bunch of law-breakers. The dad hits the wife. The daughter hides the dolphins. The wife is probably guilty of something. And the little guy, Jansen, just looks like he is gonna grow up to live in jail. Solid family.

And seriously... dolphins? LOL

I wonder if Childrens Services is involved? I think they should be, when a man abuses his wife, he abuses his kids too, as they shoudkl never be exposed to this kind of behavior.
