Taylor Momsen, 16, was spotted huffing away on a cigarette on the New York City set of Gossip Girl Wednesday -- much to the chagrin of an anti-smoking activist.

"She really has an extra responsibility to bear as an actress idolized by little girls out there," Patrick Reynolds, the director of the Foundation for a Smoke-Free America, tells UsMagazine.com. "For her to be smoking sends the wrong message to kids. Evidence shows that stars do influence kids to smoke."

Not that Momsen cares too much about what her young fans may think of her.
When asked about being a role model, she told the UK Times, "To be honest, I don't f--king care. I didn't get into this to be a role model. So I'm sorry if I'm influencing your kids in a way that you don't like, but I can't be responsible for their actions. I don't care.

"Honestly, if I'd have ended up as Hannah Montana, I don't know if the show would have gone as well. I probably would have told them all to go f--k themselves by the time I hit 11. And I don't know how that would have gone down. It's great for Miley, but I really like where I am right now and I feel really fortunate to be able to really be myself," she added.

it seems that so many people are fine with the likes of miley cyrus having tattoos and piercings, prancing around in sk nky outfits and dancing like a stripper, posing in her underwear and making sex tapes and vanessa hudgens to take naked pictures of herself and send them to people then go and claim they're innocent little disney girls. but taylor wears some sk nky clothes and smokes a cigarette and she's a bad role model, she's not denying it, she's upfront about it. its not as though she's advertising it and telling kids to go light one up is she. its her choice. its a parents responsibility to screen what their children see, not hers, like she said, she's not in it to be a role model. -

there was abit of a reply to what i said early january..and i have to say every one has been cut a bad time somewhere in there life..and yes she is an actress with money and such and shes doing "stupid" things but shes not a stupid person..it is a stupid way to rebel but girls wther or not they see actors smoking or not it's their choice kids will smoke..its just how it is..ive never had one so i cant really say anything bad about it..everyone in my family smokes or used to and they have done some pretty vulgar things in their lives but they are wonderful and full of advice. so you cant really judge anyone just cause they smoke or dress i guess to rebel? if thats what shes doing. i mean when you guys were in highschool all of you had different veiws on life and your persona..so maybe this is hers. and plus realy?hannah montanna thats another story..you should you be effing glad that disney censors because that miley needs councling. 35% of the world smokes;)-MISSKRIS -

Wow honestly i used to be her biggest fan and now i just think shes pathetic no offence, she is so pretty but she chooses to cover it all up with her "smoky" eye, yeah more like a black eye, looks like someone punched her in both her eyes and the marks were brutal and permanent, honestly she is only 16 and she acts as if she is 25 -

I agree about being a role model, after all, Gossip Girl isn't the best place to look for one (or good acting/storylines), but her attitude is so annoying. i can understand where she is coming from about being a role model, she is on gossip girl which is defo not the best show to look for role models, but .. her attitude is pretty annoying she's like oh, i dont give a f**king s**t.
