Heath ledger's death was a death that could have been prevented by his own hand. I feel sad for his family and his daughter and for the rest of the world who loved him.
However, he made a choice. He chose to take prescription drugs without regard to the effects that may play in his body. He chose to self medicate. No doctor or practitioner would ever prescribe these meds in this combination to a patient. There was obviously some deceit in obtaining the drugs. That is why the FDA is investigating how he got them. I am a nurse and I hate to say this but we see it all the time. If you are dealing with demons--addiction, anxiety or depression---you get yourself help--you choose to help yourself-----and you take drugs as prescibed. You advocate for your health. You make yourself educated about what you are taking--most people who are not in the medical field don't know the pharmokinetics of the drugs they take---and any human being (no one is excluded)!!!!
who takes the combo of drugs he took--will be found dead in their bed, too...

Heath Ledger's battle with alcohol and drugs was so harmful to his relationship with Michelle Williams that she tried to get him to enter rehab, Us Weekly reports in its latest issue, on newsstands now.
For three years, Williams was a firsthand witness to the gifted actor's use of alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, heroin and "a variety of pills," says a Ledger confidant.
In March 2006 – just weeks after the couple walked the Oscars red carpet and when daughter Matilda was only five months old – Williams drove Ledger to Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, California, the confidant tells Us Weekly.
Ledger refused to check in, instead swaying her with a pledge to clean up.
Even after the couple realized "they were in way over their heads," according to a source, and split in September 2007, two sources tell Us that Williams demanded Ledger be drug-tested before his visitations with Matilda.
When news of Ledger's death broke last Tuesday, Williams was inconsolable. "She cried and screamed as soon as she heard," a source on the Swedish set of her latest film, Mammoth, tells Us.
Check out the new issue of Us Weekly for the full story on Ledger's relationship with Mary-Kate Olsen and his final days.

This hits close to home for me, I too was a cocaine/heroin/pills addict. I can tell you that I am 95 percent sure that he did not commit suicide. I know what Xanax and painkillers do to your brain. You want more and more, even though in your normal state of mind you know that it is dangerous, the drugs distort your thinking. Looking back, I can remember taking 8 Xanax pills and passing out for almost 2 days, and I still cant believe I lived through it. But at the time, all I wanted was to feel better so I kept taking them. Poor Heath, he wasn't able to overcome it like I did.
Suz said it best: "Addictions are an illness and not a reflection of who that person is or their morals."
That statement is so true. I guess people have to experience it themselves before they can truly understand and believe this.
I am a huge fan of Heath. I am sadden by his death. I don't think that US Magazine is wrong for publishing this article and exposing the truth about his life and struggle with addiction. Millions of people are struggling with addictions in this world. They affect the lives of many in their battle with addictions. Like Matilda I had to grow up without a father because he suffered from alcholism. He also died an early death. I know that Heath would hope that besides the many wonderful movies he left behind that possibly his tragic early death will stop some young individual from taking that first drink or first hit. Addictions are an illiness and not a reflection of who that person is or their morals. I never met Heath, I do believe he was a loving father, a wonderful spirit and a very talented actor. May he rest in peace and now with a higher power at his side help others overcome their addictions.
we should all stop buying US WEEKLY so Heath can completly rest in peace, it's such a waste of money buying this type of magazine all their concern is to expose Heath's personal life. Bet you what you wrote regarding Heath's personal life so you'll make millions out of your undescent write up won't even give you a chance to bring a single dime when all of you are six feet underground. So all of you from US WEEKLY try to upgrade your sense of direction.Let him rest in peace and give your respect to the family who lost him and to the rest who loves love him.
comment on what candy said at 4:03 pm. I also fell in love the moment I laid eyes on Heath in 10 Things I Hate About You. He was extremely Sexy, and always was no matter what movie he was in. I adored him and I will miss him dearly. My heart breaks everytime I think about him. I still can't believe he's gone. I'll never forget the feeling I got the first time I heard of his death. I can only imagine what his family is going through.
I just want to say that even if Heath Ledger was into drugs and alcohol that is his choice his perrogotive. It does not make him less of a person. I still have respect for him as an actor and as a human being. He's just a man but he himself had a lot of things on his mind, and some people do different things to try to cope with what is happening in their lives. And I don't think he should be judged for anything he's done. I honestly believe that he committed suicide it was just a fatal accident. And I pray his family is coping well and hopefully the tabloids will let them mourn their son in peace. We don't have Heath anymore, but we get to watch his wonderful daughter grow up she is the spitting image of her amazing father.
I wish there was a way to turn back the clock Heath…and stop this from happening… One of the most talented and promising actors… so many images left unseen, so many emotions left to portray. And on top of it all, you seemed to be a genuine, nice and real person…
Wish I could turn back the clock and stop this from being true… You won my heart…talent is a most splendorous thing… I wish I could still watch you when we were both in our 60’s. Wish there was a way… My heart sunk when I first heard you were gone… And it sinks everytime I think of you… I just shake my head in sadness and disbelief...
I can´t take your face out of my mind Heath, and Gustavo Santaolalla’s “The Wings” from Brokeback’s soundtrack is playing in my head and won’t stop…Probably because it’s so sad, and so beautiful, and it reminds me of you…
Rest in peace, Heath.
This is just me, one who never met you but now feels as if she lost a very dear and close, special friend, saying goodbye…
You’ll forever be up there with the greats to me Heath…
It’s really hard letting you go…
You will be missed.
Love always,
Daniela.
An earlier post clipped the same article I read regarding the alleged "drug video".I have looked up several articles regarding this same video, all that have seen it have said it was very heavily edited and that all Ledger was shown doing was smoking cigarettes, however, the scum who lured him into the hotel room were doing one line of cocaine after another. If there had been any truly "juicy" footage,it would have surfaced long before now. Maybe he did have a drug problem, the last few months of his life he spent heartbroken and lonely. That could push any person prone to excessive drug use further into the drugs and the partying. There was no evidence of illegal drugs found in his home, only prescriptions. Perhaps he accidentally overdosed on his prescriptions, perhaps it was intentional. No one will know until the final toxicology reports are out. Regardless,it is a shame. From anything I have ever seen or read about Ledger, he was a kind and likeable man.All I've read regarding those who met him..they all said he was intelligent, sincere, humble and protective of his family and those he cared for. We all have our demons, maybe he was battling some of his own. But he was a talented actor, a doting father, and a seemingly decent human being who reportedly had a hard time coping with all the things that come with fame.Let science reveal the truth behind the cause of his death, either way it's tragic. I was touched by this man, I didn't know him and I feel a great loss knowing that he is gone.I have a child the same age as his, my heart breaks for that little girl..who by the way looks just like him..wow! She'll never really know who her father was, she won't remember the short time they had together. Hopefully she can one day look back on her father's career and be proud of him, and not have it be marred with all this speculation of his "drug addiction". Let the truth come out, whatever it may be. Heath I miss you, my heart aches.
He is a great actor and a good father. What a tragic loss. lets just joins hands and pray for the repose of his soul and that the family overcome soon from such painful experience.
None of you did not know him personally and here you are thrashing him. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. He has a little girl and you are talking bad about him. How do you think she is going to feel when she is older and reads the things that you all are saying. Shame, shame, shame on you all for negative talk against him. Rest in peace Heath.
What is wrong with some of you people spewing your negative, evil thoughts about someone you didn't even know. He accomplished so much in his life, and was loved by many, whereas I'm sure you are virtually non-existant. Who are you to judge anyone, when you are obviously a depressed mental case, especially the beast who left the last comment. To you: I'm sure you will lead a miserable, pathetic life. Dissappear. :)
Having admitted to his own chronic drug-abuse ON FILM, the drug-addled loser ledger was served the justice he deserved! And, no doubt, this genetic weakness was passed to his illegitimate spawn, matilde! Good riddance to THEM in time!
who cares.
Why is ok to put Britney's and Anna's life all over the media but not Heath's? Is it because he is a man?
If he did drugs so be it why the cover up?
I feel everyone is assuming he died from drugs..let's wait and see what the cause was..A lost talent..but more important a lost father..you could see on his daughter's face she thought she was there to see daddy upon them exiting the car into their apartment they once shared..everyone needs to leave the family alone right now. Heath was their life, he was just someone we new through the movies. You can honor Heath by respecting his daughter and family right now with leaving them in peace.
Leave him the hell alone, you sick people
Hey 12:14...Just so you know, I did not pay to leave my comment, nor did I pay for that magazine featuring Heath. And there is never any need for negativity to spread on someone who has passed, especially when those people were remembered as being great people. Yeah he lived a public life, but his family did not, and does not deserve others trying to drag his name through the mud. And what are YOU doing making comments on a site that you are judging the rest of us on? It sounds like you feed the animal just as much!
hey! 12:14pm don't drift....you are such a dramatic!!! do not take it personal pal! we all know such is life and we all know what a magazine does to survive, but people here are giving just their point of view....different opinions, different life etc.... it is sad waht has happen, we only admired his work and we will miss it, and obviously feel sad for his family, Michelle and his daughter...
Seriously you folks who read these magazines need to get a life. Heath lived a public life in the public eye, even if certain comments are not warranted he chose that life so whatever criticisms come from the media are a result of being a public figure...not being dead or a drug addict.
ALL OF YOU WHO COMPLAIN EITHER WAY FEED THE ANIMAL THAT CRAPS OUT THIS GARBAGE THAT YOU CONSUME DAILY! Editors of US shouldn't be fired, the readers need to get lives and understand the media does what they do to make their money OFF OF YOU.
I am a stepmother of a talented young son, who was born in the sixties. We tried everything, love, tough love, therapy, opportunities in our business, paid schooling for trade related jobs i.e. carpentry and on and on, all ending the same way. We know nothing of his whereabouts since 2002
I would give anything to find him and tell him that his Dad died whispering his name.
I completely agree with the majority of the comments! I felt somehow connected to him, which I know, seems strange, but to quote the words of another well known Hollywood actor, "something just doesn't seem right with the order of things, when I look at his young face, and the talent, a man of so much promise, it just doesn't seem, right."(Daniel Day-Lewis) I believe that he was a gentle, kind person, and I didn't even know him personally. And if nothing else, let his love for his beautiful daughter, Matilda Rose, go to show what kind of a decent human being he really was. The media makes me sick and this negative crap has got to stop! The rights obviously need to be amended some...
Since I am a fan of US weekly but this one made me sick to my stomach for revealing so many bad things about him while he is dead and he couldn't be here to defend himself. I chose Heath Ledger's words over this article because he was just a human who was struggling to get over his bad habits, worked his bleep off on many movies to touch people's lives, and tried to be a great father to his daugther. He was just a human and nobody is perfect. I will always remember him as a wonderful actor in so many movies, nothing can change that. Rest in Peace, Heath Ledger.
Although I didn't know Heath personally, a part of me still feels as though it was ripped out of my body. I guess it's because he was so young. I remember him in 10 things I hate about you, he stole my heart from that moment...I loved his accent and the way his hair fell in his face. He came across as such a simple and sweet individual, not to mention SEXY! and indeed that's how I would always remember him. No one is perfect, NO ONE and everyone should UNDERSTAND THAT FACT. He was a great father and a great actor. America dwells on gossip, even if it hurts the love one's of the people whose name is being dragged through the mud. Even if he did drugs who cares, and I can't understand why people are buying all these magazines and reading all these articles with all this trash talking of the late actor. His drug habbits(supposedly) was never made public until now....HE IS DEAD FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!! Let his family grieve in peace....I wish I could publicly reinforce my disgust for the media on this topic. He is not here to defend himself so they are having a field day with all their speculations....LEAVE HEATH ALONE....LET HIS DAUGHTER REMEMBER HIM AS A GOOD FATHER, NOT A DRUG ADDICT AS YOU ARE TRYING TO PORTRAY HIM AS.
Heath era un Gran Actor
Es Una Pena k después de su muerte haya Gente k le kiera tirar mala Onda, con lo del Video, ningun Respeto por la Familia de Heath.
Se nos Fue un Gran Talento de Hollywood!!
I Will Never Forget you Heath!
You were Great!!!
With Too Much Talent!!!
and you loved your family so much!
your fans will never forget you!
Heath Ledger
Rest in Peace!
Who supplied the drugs? this is a Federal Offense!
obviously my comments are not getting posted: But heres one last try.
I quote someone else who wrote in this blog:
"If people want to show sympathy for family and friends let them. If they feel like they knew Heath Ledger, then that is fantastic, because Heath reached out and touched you with his acting. If people don't like him, want to make stupid remarks, or complain about what people post in memorial here, then those are the people who need to go elsewhere, they have no business posting."
Shells: SHUT IT!!!!!! If reading peoples compassionate posts bothers you then go else where!!! NO body asked for your 411! D@mn! Havent you ever heard of giving someone the benifit of doubt?! People will beleive, whatever they beleive. And like alot of people have said on here. It DOSENT matter whether Heath was into drugs or NOT! He wasnt a God, and therefore was NOT perfect! So what??? I doubt anyone who truly adored or liked him, are gonna immediatly turn their backs on him the minute they found out he was mortal!!! So SHUT your pie hole! And where is it written that for anyone to have respect for another human being, you have to be a close friend or family? I doubt anyone here is. And ya know what? Who cares?! HEath touched alot of lives! I DOES NOT MATTER WHO,WHAT,WHERE,WHEN. HE DID! SO GET OVER YOURSELF!
11:11am Angry: I completely agree with you 100%. There is and will always be ignorant/selfish people in every culture and every country! Not every american is like that! And to say that all americans are, is extremely unfair! There are some truly GREAT people in this world! It shouldnt matter what color, religion, or where their from!!! Enough with those kind of remarks. It isnt anyones fault that Heath died! Nor is it any bystanders fault for what the media publishes!!! GOOD GREIF people, enough pointing fingers already!!!!!!!
WHATEVER 10:39am Anonymus! Dont you have any information about the person your trying to help slander? Heath was only 28 years old, and you have him smoking 5 joints a day for 20 years?! Obiously your brain is the size of a sunflower seed. F#uck! He would have been 8 years old when he started. Geez your dumb and ignorant!
Finally some common sense here, this was printed in the AP section of our local paper. It was a very long article, but pay attention to the last paragraph. This is all explaining ET's choice to not air the video. It shows how the media manipulates everything to drag a decent human being's name through the mud just for the money they'll get from it.
If he did drugs, he did drugs, leave it at that, focus on HIM, not his habits. At funerals, do we dredge up bad memories and talk about all the bad habits the deceased person had or everyone they hurt? No, we remember the good and we reminisce WHY we LOVED them in the first place and what we'll miss about them! The ONLY time I've ever seen a celebrity not get ragged on after they died unexpectantly is John Ritter. He was a good man who loved his family, as did Heath Ledger, let's focus on that aspect of him and recall the wonderful guy who won all our hearts and was so amazing he was even nominated for an Oscar.
Keep in mind his daughter will probably be reading this information about him one day....for her sake, if no one else's, let's give her the best memories possible of her dear father. She'll treasure the few pictures they have together and remember those good times. Why leave her with all this crap about her father? Would you want to read this about your own family?
HERE IS A SECTION FROM THE ARTICLE ON MY LOCAL NEWSPAPER
"The show made clear that there was nothing on the video showing Ledger taking any drug. At one point, however, the then-26-year-old said he "used to smoke five joints a day."
But a person who has seen the entire video, who asked not to be identified because of its sensitive nature, said Ledger then points to his tattoo of "M" (for his daughter, Matilda Rose) and says, "this is to remind me never to smoke weed again." That part of the quote was not used in Wednesday's preview."
~God bless Heath, Michelle, Matilda, and all of Heath's extended family and friends
