Heath Ledger's Uncle: Love Child Reports Are "Absolutely Berserk"

Reports that Heath Ledger fathered a love child have been blown out of proportion, the late actor's uncle Mike told Usmagazine.com in a telephone interview Wednesday.

How did the rumors start?
All my brother Haydn said was that anything is possible, and from there, it just went absolutely berserk. At the end of the day, our thoughts are with the little girl in question, and we’re not prepared to make any more comments at all.

So Haydn said something, and it was taken out of context?
Yes. Haydn was asked a question that wasn't’t directly related to the Heath issue: 'If someone was this age, could it be possible?' and Haydn said 'Anything is possible,' and that’s it. His statement was absolutely taken out of context. Absolutely.

So you and Haydn don’t know for a fact if Heath had another child or not?
No. It’s just a rumor! It’s been a rumor for a long while.

Did you and the rest of Heath’s family know about Heath having a girlfriend who was older?
There were rumors. He was a young, good-looking guy, and he attracted lots of women.

Do you know the woman in question?
No, and I’m not going to comment any further. I’m sorry. I really feel for the little girl that’s in the middle of this, and my thoughts are with her and her alone. The little girl is the most important thing in the whole thing.

I hope you’re doing well otherwise.
Our grieving process is still continuing, and it’s very difficult.

If he has a love child other than Matilda, face it, that's what she is... and she's the cutest one at that :) leave it alone. It isn't a big deal. Every week there's something about him on a website...

Okay don't get me wrong but am I the only person who thinks it wrong for people to keep making up rumors about Heath. Everytime I get on a website there is something about him. People need to let the man R.I.P. cause its just patheic now. For the fact his uncles are saying he had a love child. So what if he did but why is it after he has passed away all of this stuff comes out. Heath was an amazing actor and had so much talent, and its so sad to have seen his life cut so short. If you're any kind of family you dont go to the press with something like this, its wrong on so many levels. Whoever keeps leaking his personal business to the press are very low people, cause its noones business. Everyone needs to realize regardless if he had a love child or not he does have a daughter who is gonna grow up and read everything that was sad about her dad. People need to think of Matilda first.

What I don't understand is, why even have this Uncle bring it up in the first place? He should have never said anything, if he knew it was a possible rumor. He shouldn't be sharing those private details with anyone anyways. Why doesn't he just let his nephew be in peace? The whole story is wrong, and they should be ashamed of themselves for even bringing it up in the first place. When the Uncle says everyone blew it out of proportion, well, it's not anyone's fault except his. The Uncle and the rest are the one's that made a spectacle of the whole thing.

If the uncle's statements were taken out of context and he didn't mean anything by it, then why has there been "a rumor for a long while?" Why has the rumor persisted?

If the little girl is indeed "the most important thing in this whole thing" and his "thoughts are with the little girl in question" (and why would that be, exactly?), then why would he want to bring the hammer down on a line of inquiry into the truth about the girl's identity? A line of inquiry that could also potentially lead to some remuneration for the girl? That does not sound like concern for her welfare to me. That sounds like a coalition of the willing to cover up an out-of-wedlock birth so that the current parties have a larger sum of money to divvy up amongst themselves.
