They should be fired. Whether someone is famous or not doesn't give others the right to go through their medical files. Besides, it IS illegal.

UCLA Medical Center is firing some employees for snooping through Britney Spears' confidential medical records while she was hospitalized in a psych ward earlier this year.
More than 13 employees (none are doctors) will be axed, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Twelve others, including several doctors, will also be disciplined for looking at her non-psychiatric computer records from her previous visits to the Los Angeles medical center.
The Times reports that there is no evidence yet that any employees leaked or sold the information.
This isn't Spears' first peeping problem.
In 2005, several workers were fired after they went through her records after she gave birth to son Sean Preston.

britneys past behavior still doesn't give anyone the right to violate her privacy! these are professionals- if the girl can't even go to the hospital and have privacy well no wonder she went crazy. can you guys even fathom this? its like she has had her identity stripped from her since she was 15 she has had to be something she isn't! the fact that staff were looking through her personel files is utterly unethical no matter if britney flashed her privates to the world or whatever! its unethical and unprofessional! she deserves her privacy no matter who she is. I can't believe anyone would think otherwise.
Britney Spears' privacy is oxymoronic.
Britney gave up her privacy when she exposed her kooch to the world.
This is just a play by UCLA Adminstrators Klove and Simpson justifying their jobs. They should have just suspended and fined the offending parties. They think they are forestalling a lawsuit now this admission of guilty is an open invitation for a lawsuit. Good job.
Unlike the situation at the Endoscopy Center of Las Vegas where the doctors and nurses should be criminally charged.
Britney DOES NOT DESERVE PRIVACY.
is there anything this girl hasn't flippin experience?! she needs a break, im seriously rooting for her, give her a break so we can see the britney that used to work it!
Britney is beautiful. I am sure that the people who snooped earned more by selling the story than they earned at the hospital. Sad, but true.
Hey, 4:54, Jennifer has a photo of me when I am blogging on that board. You can even see the page, and the look on Brit's face. I am just lying down by the computer, blogging away.....Just thought I would share
I'm a jazzy cat ®
Hi. As you continue to post random self-talk about celebrities…I need to make an important announcement. Listen---whoever you are, you are one person. Two or three at the most. Ever since the first day I came on here to post my comment on what we call today “The Jeter Page” I have been the Paris Hilton of the internet. I’ve traveled and surfed the web everywhere. Popsugar, Monsters and Critics, Yahoo, TMZ, and a lot of crazy jazz. But I need to say something important. Recently, probably in February or January, this year I came by a site called talk-sports… I posted a comment and now the place is just how US used to be, when I was the new hip internet Queen. Now, I am being hammered on talk sports, and I know it is you. I know it…Ever since I first came here, rumors about Derek Jeter have been flying but they are not your every day ones---I know you are some person who works for the internet or, some kind of person who sets comments. I just want you, person x, to get this comment, and realize that you need to stop. You are this crazy person who is on talk sports and you are posting every comment imaginable on there. I can recognize the writing. Its all the same. The same things you said awhile back, and the writing style. Even Chantal agrees with me, and if it weren’t for her, I would still be thinking all these made up people were real. Listen, all I want to know is who you are, why are you doing this, and what your deal is. I mean no harm, I am only concerned and I need to know. Please…I know you hate me, but just tell me finally. I really need to know.
4:54 Amen
all i want to say is why would anyone risk their jobs to read about what we all have been reading about on the cover of USMagazine Weekly? We all already know the diagnosis; SHE'S CRAZY!!!!!
5:54 nobody would go through your file. Your name isn't Britney. She will never have privacy. She has personally seen to that herself with her behavior and antics.
Obviously these workers never heard of the HIPAA law that went into effect in 2003... HIPAA applies to EVERYONE, famous or not.
That is so true... shoot i would want people fired or arrested if they went thourgh my file... but its the law and they all know this law and so therefore will suffer the consiquences.
Thank-you 5:32, 5:31 and 5:24 for confirming the obvious. I feel sorry for those fired also.
Even if I weren't an employee at UCLA Medical Center,? I'd go through her files just for fun & to get the truth about popwreck Brit!
It'd be fun to go through Brit's records just to see what's in there! And about the workers who were fired, sucks for them!
Oh, Give me a break!
All of you commenting would look through her records if you had the chance. The girl is a walking train wreck/soapopera.
I wish I had the chance to go through those records and see what the truth is!
Remember when Brittney 'forgot' to wear her underwear then flashed the whole public her crotch? Then suddenly everything about her is supposed to be confidential. Whatever.
what the hell?! can this girl get a break?? how many users have been in her life? everybody uses her and she has no privacy at all!! why do people do this to her??
Its no wonder that so many people are deterred from seeking medical help for mental problems. There is a great deal of shame and embarassment when your mind isn't working correctly and who would want to seek help thinking that their records will be coffee break reading material. Brittany is in the healing process and her privacy should be respected. Those snoops should be prosecuted.
Why is everyone so freakin surprised??? what do you think the doctors and nurses do on their coffee breaks? This shouldnt be a shock to anyone. Of course people are gonna go through files that are suppose to be top secret. Every work place has nosey employees that love to snoop and gossip. The most trustworthy and least expected employees are just as guilty and at times the worst. Just because Doctors, nurses, attorneys, police etc. etc. are to act professional doesnt mean they are going to.
ARREST THEM!!!!!
1:10 - LOL So true!
Obviously these workers never heard of the HIPAA law that went into effect in 2003... HIPAA applies to EVERYONE, famous or not.
Poor Britney, that is BEYOND messed up! Hope those stupidazzes get charged! Glad they were fired!
I'M SURPRISED US WEEKLY CARES! AFTER ALL, IF IT WASN'T FOR THESE CROOKS, THEY WOULDN'T HAVE HALF THEIR STORIES!!!
God Riddance to medical record snoops. These law-breakers probably sold confidential information to TMZ and other tabloids.
The snoopnig is a violation of federal law. I hope the FBI would handcuff all ofthe hospital workers to a chain and parade them in ffront of TV cameras.
Medical Patients deserve their privacy....even Britney
