ok, so, let me ask this, if you purchase something, and animal, though it is a living being, having been purchased, is your personal property, right, ok, so if you purchase something, does the former owner have the right for the rest of your ownership to dictate to you what and how you will own that? yes, i realize they signed a contract, but I really don't think that they have a right to continue having any kind of control once an animal has left their possession. I read those emails, and seriously that woman at the froo froo pet foster care, she sounds not only power and control hungry, she also sounds like she has emotional issues. this is a DOG we are talking about, not a HUMAN CHILD. this is beyond ridiculous, and the woman i truly feel is only getting off at being able to jerk people around. like it or not, a pet is a possession in the end, and in any other possessions, outsiders have no further say once a possession has been purchased, and yes, when she paid the application fee, she was theoretically paying for that dog.

My point was more that Ellens comments on her show seemed to be misleading. Her statement that the Agency called HER and SHE spoke to them is not 100% true IF the emails are true. In them emails it shows that all communication regarding the dog were via email and between Portia and the Agency. The Agency several times seemed to write that they were willing to work with them but had to go through proper channels, which whether we agree with what their policies are, they are their policies plain and simple. OF COURSE the dog should have been able to stay with the family that had bonded with him I am 100% in agreement with that. What I do not agree with is that Ellen was completely truthful with her audience. I happen to love Ellens show. No one but Ellen, Portia and the Agency know exactly what happened. 2 sides to every story.

sometimes these celebrities use their influence to get ppl to do things in their favor...
ellen and portia signed a contract - they couldn't just go giviing away the pup, especially having been asked nicely and repeatedly to return it...sad...

just add my 2cents = well, why shouldn't Ellen use her show to gain sympathy. It's her shoe and it's a forum most don't have available to them. This dog was placed in a good home and Marissa can go jump off a highrise.
She doesn't even spay the animals she adopts out, therefore, taking the chance that they will breed. There are enough unwanted dogs in this world then to worry about one that has people who want to love it.

It's clear by the comments that most people did not actually read the emails. But that doesn't surprise me because everyone wanted to believe that Ellen was the victim and from the messages it's clear that the agency was more than willing to give the dog to the family as long as they filled out the paperwork. Ellen's breakdown makes even less sense today.

Well I supported the adoption agency before because Portia broke the legal agreement but now I support the agency even more because they were more than fair to all parties involved to give everyone a chance to right this wrong. It's a shame that the family that was housing the puppy didn't love him enough to actually want to adopt him. If it were about the money (the fee to adopt the dog) Ellen is so freely giving of things that aren't hers to give away just ask her for the money I'm sure she'll give it to you.

Seriously..did any of you people actually go READ the emails? If you had you would know that Ellen and Portia were nuts to adopt the dog in the first place. They go on about how they're sooooo busy with their new house and how there are workmen there all the time and it's just too crazy for a puppy. I read somewhere today that Portia is leaving Ellen because she now feels Ellen is too old for her. That sucks for Ellen. I hope this isn't true. That'd be pretty shallow of Portia IMO.
