Last night, 17-year-old Jordin Sparks joined a legion of lovely lasses who've won American Idol. But how does she stack up against the rest?

Anon 4:10 - you are trying waay to hard. And I'm sorry, but you don't get paid based on your color. It's all about your experience and how you are as a worker. Like Anon @ 3:22, we have all been discriminated against. Lord knows, I fit to every one of her list items. The whole point I think is that ANY kind of discrimination is wrong and NO race is better or has it worse than another. There are just as many good examples of people of every color as there are bad ones. AI has never done anything to be considered rascist since it is the public that votes. We can be accused more of voting on popularity, but color???? You are so very wrong....
4:10 anon...i dont know, i guess we will just have to ask
jay z, beyonce, p diddy, oprah, my husbands boss, should i go on?
i dont know, i guess we will just have to ask jay z, beyonce, p diddy, oprah, oh and my husbands boss, should i go on?
They may have worked right along side them but they were not paid the same wages. And as far as racism for everyone, yes everyone experience it but DO NOT TELL ME THAT RACE DOES NOT PLAY A PART IN MAKING MONEY. That is just BULLS***
Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks are both drop dead gorgeous and AMAZING singers! They are the most talented and the best to represent the "american idol" title in my opinion. I don't understand why people are talking about race. What does that have to do with AI. The american people are voting and they voted for the best all around singer performer, and definitely the most marketable person on AI. Yes Melinda has an amazing voice, but she didn't get voted off for being black, she got voted off because her voice and talent is much more suited for gospel music or old school R&B. She is not a pop singer and just wasn't the correct fit for the job. For the record...I'm a huge Blake fan and have been since the beginning of this AI season...but there was no way that he could outsing Jordin.
3:22 anon....so perfectly said and im going to add another to your list. being divorced.
come one Big Al S and Jesse J., yeah seem they are two poor blacks. My ass, skin color PLAYS NO ISSUE in money making now. I have friends who are black and great, I also know some who are really pathetic. It isn't skin color, it is the way you act, speak and present yourself that truely matters.
I am a black woman and I too could not stand hearing Fantasia sing let alone speak. It is skreeching her singing and her baby voice is ever so annoying.
Slavery DID NOT END IN THE 60's you may think it did, my parents were born in th 50's there were no slaves, then, they were working right along side of them.
Anon 3:22 I so agree with you...there is not one person on the face of this earth who has not experience discrimination at one time or another...true it happens to some more than others, but we all go through it...
I fully admit that I'm racist against Fantasia, and totally believe she should not have won. But I'm not racist against her skin color, I'm racist against people who sing like a screeching cat in heat in a back alley. And every time she opens her mouth and that little-girl voice comes out I want to kill myself. Worst. American. Idol. Ever.
And for the record, I'm white, 5'0 with blond hair. I fully despise Britney Spears and Paris Hilton (who are white) I wish Rosie O'Donnell would drop dead (who is white) and if I see one more post on those idiots Spencer and Heidiho (who are white) I will personally have to sue US Magazine for distress. Plus, I get discrimiated all the time because
1. I'm a woman
2. I'm petite
3. I'm blond
4. my income (or lack thereof)
5. the car I drive
6. the neighborhood I live in
7. my job
...the list goes on and on. The simple truth is, racism/discrimination exists for just about everyone, in some capacity. So I'm sick and tired of hearing the race card played out for every little thing. You want a melting pot, and one combined race, so everyone will be regarded for their talents? Get real, there will only be something else to replace the skin color and people will still be discrimiated against for something.
So true Anon 2:53...although that is usually the preference of white men cause apparently since I am white and been with a black dude I am too "dirty" for them. And yes that has actually been said to me before.

EEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not crying i am only trying to have a civilized discussion. You say i am crying but I am not. I am sorry about what your father is going thru but this is something that every black man goes thru. So welcome welcome welcome to the club.

I am white, my supervisor is black, my boyfriend is black and he is a supervisor at a national company, where he was promoted over a white candidate because he had his master's degree while the white candidate did not. His immdediate supervisor is a black female and she was promoted because of her experience and education. Just an example...
Once you go black you never go back!
You are small-minded and has a lot have so much anger inside. My father who is Arabic is BEING discriminated ever since 9-11 and he never sits around and blames people. This is such an egocentric way to think that only blacks are being discriminated. I bet you that if a white person go in a neighborhoods were it is all black, that white person will be discriminated too. Yes, white is a majority in America, if I go in another part of the world, I could be discriminated for being part white. And you will not hear me cry over it.
hold up before you came we were have a ver respectful debate. you have taken it to the next level. I have not call anyone out of their name. I am only stating my comments. And by the way you have just validate my point. We can not discuss this issue like adults. Someone has to drop down and make nasty comments. And Slavery did end in the 60 but it was called Jim Crows laws. Once again, READ YOUR HISTORY BOOKS.

1:09 you are an idiot slavery did not end in 60's it ended well before that you retard. And live in the present not the past, you were never a slave. So shut up already. Quit making excuses. Blacks are more racist than most whites. FYI Rueben Shutter was black and Fantasia was black, that is two winners on AI who won, 2 white girls and a half and half, stop the whining. If it is so bad where you are at I"m guessing America??? Go somewhere else, no one is forcing you to stay here. WAHHH. Go back to Africa, seems nice there, or Iran or Costa Rica oh wait how about Iraq it's so much more peaceful and raceless isn't it. PATHETIC
I realy enjoyed the debate also
I never said that black do not like whites or vice versa. I am only pointing out the status of America.
I agree with Stacie, everyone needs to stop being so sensitive. All races are subject to prejudice. If you say that all whites don't like blacks, that's being prejudice, too. If you say all blacks don't like whites, that's just as bad. Everyone needs to get out of the 20th century and realize the world has changed!
I'm white and my supervisor is Indian.

Ok in your department are your white co workers their supervisor?
------
Color has NOTHING to do with their positions, its experience and education. Not black and white.
I'm from Sweden, have been living in the US for 15 years now and am still shocked about the amount of racism, it's very, very sad!!!

Okay Anon: I have had a fab time debating with you, but I do have to run. Hopefully we can continue this friendly discussion later? Seriously I have had fun debating with you, it is fun to debate without fighting.
My point proven, they are not black.
I'm sorry but you ARE being small minded. I am white, but I have a mexican step sister, a half mexican/half white sister and she has 3 mixed white/mex/black kids. I have witnessed just as many prejudices against whites, as I have blacks and latinos. It still is not justifiable being from one race to another. yes, prejudice is still around, many thanks to people with opinions like yours.
1:28 No my supervisor is a Asian woman.
