Donna P. you are putting your foot in your mouth. The presence of blackness in films actually predates Black actors in moving pictures. Or do you know nothing about blackface minstresly and vaudeville which influenced the motion picture industry? Long before studios actually deigned to allow Black actors to make movies they were spending half of their times portraying black characters via blackface. Do some research or better yet just watch Spike Lee's Bamboozled for a review. And even if the presence of African American characters and actors was not enough, several other aspects of Black culture (i.e. music and dance) set the tone for some of the major motion pictures performed by stars we consider American icons. Try paying attention to who is dancing next to Shirley Temple or Elvis Presley the next time you watch one of their movies. Not calling you racist, just saying you sound ignorant because you don't know your history.

Ellen wasn't saying Jews, Gays and Blacks created the Oscars 79 years ago.. She is saying the ceremony wouldn't exist-TODAY if it weren't for the continuous contributions from these people. FYI--The Oscars has grown and changed in recent years (because it had to). As you saw, there were several nationalities represented during the show..

Very happy for Jennifer, but know she has to prove (and I know she will!!) that the win was not a one-time fluke. Regarding Beyonce, PEOPLE! just becuase she has done a few flicks (Austin Powers, Pink Panther (hello??) ) doesn't mean she deserves or will ever be near the "Oscars" radar. She should stick to what she does best, singing and looking pretty, cause not even her clothing line is doing that well. And yes, there is some jelousy between her a Jenny...I mean lets face it, this was suppose to be Beyonce's dramatic (oh...please...) vehicle and Jenny came, saw and conquered....and deservingly so. I guess if Beyonce had shelver her "diva" and put up a few pound for the role, maybe (maybe) the story would be different.

Ellen did a great job. I was laughing so hard. My whole family said the words at the same time. BEST OSCAR SO FAR!!!!!!! The fued is all in US head; I also heard their report ask Jeniffer about the fued. So out of place. Beyonce ruled the spot lite. Jennifer not so much I'm glad she won; but Beyonce will be up there sooon.

Sorry, no inbreeding here! My reasoning on Ellen's comment is this; Jews started Hollywood and the Studios. Gays have been around forever and probably were around when Hollywood started thus they made their mark in the industry. Blacks were made fun of on film and had small roles back in the day like being the hired help, etc. They are not what I consider “founding fathers” of Hollywood like the Jews and Gays are which is how I took Ellen’s comments.

I think actually Ellen's comment was really uncomfortable and inappropriate. We should be celebrating everyone and the Oscar's should not be about race, religion, or sexual preference, but about great performances and great movies.
