Happy birthday, Suri Cruise! The fashionable daughter of Katie Holmes and ex-husband Tom Cruise turned 8 on Friday, April 18, and the occasion was cause for celebration.
Single mom Holmes, 35, féted her young one in their adopted hometown of New York City, calling Suri’s birthday the “best day ever!” The actress took her daughter to the upscale, celeb-beloved sushi eatery Nobu Next Door in New York City on Friday night, a source tells Us. The mother-and-daughter pair was joined by loved ones as Suri was presented with a dessert topped with a candle.
The Dawson’s Creek alum doted on her little girl, posting a photo to her Twitter account of 12 frosted cupcakes, reading “Happy Birthday Suri.” Gifts from FAO Schwarz, as well as other presents and balloons, were also delivered to Holmes’ NYC apartment. No word yet on how Suri’s dad Tom Cruise, 51, marked the milestone.
The celebrations were a thrill for Holmes, a source told Us. “Katie was so excited to take Suri out for her birthday,” the source said. “She talks about how grown up she’s gotten and more and more mature.”
