Everyone has an opinion on this week's news that Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. (Over 62,000 readers responded to an Usmagazine.com poll on whether Spears is setting a bad example; the results were split.)
Even Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee – a Baptist minister and the former governor of Arkansas – entered the fray.
"It's a tragedy when a 16-year-old who is not really prepared for all the responsibilities of adult life is going to be now faced with all the responsibilities of honest-to-goodness adult life," he told CBS News in Iowa.
"Apparently, she's going to have the child and I think that is the right decision, a good decision, and I respect that and appreciate it," Huckabee continued. "I hope it is not an encouragement to other 16-year-olds who think that is the best course of action."
"But at the same time I'm not going to condemn her," he said. "I just hope that she will make another right decision and that's to give that child all the love and kindness and care that she can."

I think that all yall really need 2 quit hatin on ole girl ya dig? now im not sayin what jamie did was great but its done now and all shes doin is takin a bad situation and turning it into a good one. i feel for her cause i know how hard it could be being pregnant at such a yougn age and shes going thru all this in the public eye. I am ver proud of her for continuing her life and not allowing nickolodeon to stop her show. and im pretty sure she knew abuot birth control i mean who doesnt? alot of us teenagers make bad decisins and we do regret them later but by then it mite be a lil bit too late. I think that Jamie has seperated herself from her crazy bleep sister simply by decideding to keep the baby, raise it where she was raised and go on with her life. I think she will be a great mother The fact that she aint went and had an abortion is reason enough to applaud her. It is NOT Jamies fault that Britney is a total and complete basket case. also Britney may ont even be able to help her craziness cuz she has bi polar, and i know what its like to be bi polar. but shes a whole nother story entirely. Ridiculous!Young girls need to protect themselves from these type of tragedies they get into. Feel very sorry for her. But she brought it on to herself, what a shame. I have 2 kids that are 15 months apart, and yes I may be in my 20's but it doesn't make parenting any easier! She has the stress of her sisters situation as well as her moms and her own, she doesnt need close minded snobs calling her a bad mom without even giving her a chance!

I think half of these comments are ridiculous. How do you know she is stupid? Is she guilty by association? O.K. so being pregnant at 16 is not a good thing but at least she is taking responsibility for her actions and not just having an abortion and saying "oops!". How can you possibly judge a person that you do not know? I had to explain this to my two young boys who love her show. I am SURE that none of you have EVER made a mistake. I was pregnant at 17 and unlike Jamie I did not make a lot of money but I am a damn good parent. Some teens have more intelligence than adults. And just because you are an adult doesn't mean that you should be reproducing. (Just because you can doesn't mean you should.) There are so many adults who are unfit parents. Give the girl a break and hopefully, God willing, she will be unlike her sister and her parents.

last time i checked, there was such a thing as a free country, honestly, we all know it's not ideal for a minor to have children but she should be commended for making an adult decision and taking responsibility for her actions. fortunatly for her, her reputation has not been soiled by anything like all the other hollywood "starlets" and their drunken parties all over the world. i personally have not heard the first thing "bad" about her anywhere until now. i'm not even sure that what's happened is a bad thing, some of the best mothers that i know personally started at her age or some younger but they have always put their children first and who's to say she won't? you can say she's raised around this and that but how she was raised is not a reflection of how she will raise her own. sometimes life throws curve balls at you and you can either duck and take the easy way out or you can swing at it and deal with the consequences, reguardless, i believe that she will be just fine. who cares if she's not married, not out of school, etc. she seems like she has a good head on her shoulders and hasn't been too affected by the bad press with the rest of her family. true children are life changing but from a mother, it's worth it so just leave her alone and let her live her life. if it were the 16 year old down the street you would shake your head and move on, no sense in being stuck on Jamie Lynn just because she's in the spotlight.

I respect Jamie Lynn for keeping the child. I believe abortion is murder and should be illegal. While I definitley would not encourage other teenagers to get pregnant, if they do, I would definitley want them to keep the baby even if they have to put the child up for adoption. If I was Jamie Lynn, I would not let my Lynne halp raise the baby for the mere reason of... BRITNEY!! In my opinion, I just say that all girls should get birth control when they turn 16 to prevent pregnancy. Children is not a responsibilty for minors. It should be prevented. I am happy for Jamie Lynn and I hope that she, her boyfriend, and baby-to-come are happy. Also, that Jamie Lynn does not end up like Britney.

I was 17 when i got pregnant. I was in hs. Guess what? i kept the baby! didn't pass her off to other people! I am doing an awesome job at raising my daughter, and am not "ruining" her life! The father and I are now married, and have 2 other children together. He just got out of the military, and i wouldn't change a thing. It's so easy to be judgemental about teen pregnancy, and parenting. having 3 kids takes a lot of energy! but being young, i am more then able to handle it. I'm glad my daughter is here and not in some dump site from being aborted.your comments just make me sick.

But 3 of my best friends did. Three. And all 3 of them, who do not even know each other, have called me on seperate occasions bawling about their decision. This has occured even years after the abortion has taken place. I don't think this is an issue about having the freedom to choose life or death for your embryo, it's about how the Mom is going to suffer remorse after making a decision like that. Once the embryo is in your body, it's yours. And no matter how early on the abortion took place, nothing can change the fact that a part of that mom is now forever dead.
SO.....go join Marsy on your damn pro-life crusade!!!! Look everyone, volunteer number 2 at your service....make sure you give these 2 morons the correct routing and bank account number so they can drain their bank accounts trying to support your mistakes.
