Britney Spears' father Jamie was granted an extension of his conservatorship over her until March 10, the LA Superior Court decided today.
Britney's brother Bryan, 30, and attorney Ivan Taback were named co-trustees of her trust.
"Ms. Spears' family, friends and members of her household have been paying for her basic necessities including medicine, food and other day to day expenses," Bryan's attorney told the court.
Also at the hearing it was reported that Jamie's attorneys have not been able to serve a restraining order to Britney's pal Sam Lutfi.
Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet have been co-coservators of her legal, medical, and financial decisions since February 1, the day after Spears was involuntarily committed to treatment for bipolar disorder at the UCLA Medical Center.
The court's decision to put them in charge in the first place was the worst-case scenario for Spears, sources told Us, as she has never been close to Jamie (who battled alcohol abuse during her childhood and was verbally abusive).
Spears was released on February 6 after a week of treatment. She had been expected to remain hospitalized for another 10 days.

Once again lovely photo work--and it is a non story. I think he will be granted the extension. No biggy, and good. He'll continue to support her. Maybe they have been estranged in the past, but right now he is doing everything he can to help Britney, and it does seem to be working. She is looking better and definately acting better. I think that he should have control over her estate for a least a year. Sam Lufti is a coward and he needs to just go away.

Yes, this could possibly further damage the relationship between Brit and her Dad. But, I think Mr. Spears knows that their relationship is already bad, and the only thing he can focus on now is making Britney's life better. He's doing the right thing. Maybe it will strengthen their relationship in the long run when Brit realizes that he's doing this because he loves her.

6:07 No need to panic. I think the sentiment is just warranted and expected in such a case. The important thing is to realize the people in her life are making decisions day by day weak by weak hearing by hearing. It will take time. She's had a psychological evaluation on Wed, results still pending. I can almost guarantee you that should the results every come back more positive as we get closer to March 10, she will be allow to make small choices here and there. It is important to remember that the whole point was to remove the chaos of being in the limelight, surrounded by idiots for support. A person in her condition, I can't say what her condition is because I don't know but I'll venture as far as a safe psychological break down, can not have the stress and pressure of managing the size of the estate and assets she owns. It's overwhelming. She needs to have room to do normal things, slow down her life, shop, dance, see therapists, spend time with her family (maybe in counseling) , and start at least seeing her kids when she is ready. (You don't want to rush that as parental stress could have been apart of her overheating the psychological issue from which she suffers) Her brother has been named truste of her trust. Her sister will be having a baby. Things are cooling off.

It's a good thing Brit's dad, Jaime Spears, and co-conservator, Andrew Walllet, are still in charge of Brit's estate at least until March 10th. I don't think Britney Spears is capable of making decisions on her own anytime soon.

Jamie Spears is risking damaging any relationship he has built with his daughter if he does not give her back power over her own life after the March court date. Britney probably already feels like she has zero control over her own life, and that her father is the one who is keeping this power from her. If it goes on for much longer, she is going to start to rebel negatively, and isolate everyone who has been trying to help her. And that is not what anyone wants! Noone wants Britney to stop seeing a psychologist, to stop getting the treatment for her disorder, and start going backward, but this is exactly what is going to happen if her father does not start letting her have SOME say in her own life. I have a feeling that Britney is angry as hell today, and that it is only going to get worst until her parents step back, and let her lead her life, the way she wants, without being treated like a prisoner.
