Nascar champ Jeff Gordon, 35, is revving up the baby carriage: The racer’s wife of one month, model Ingrid Vandebosch, 36, is three months along with the couple's first child.
The new bride tells Us they were already trying for a baby before their November 7 vows. “We found out about the pregnancy the week before we left for Mexico for the wedding. I'm so excited!” says the mom-to-be.
She’s not the only one: Gordon’s mother, Carol Bickford, tells Us she’d been rooting for a grandchild for ages. “I’m thrilled to death,” she says. “I put in my request for this a long time ago.”
When Gordon split with his first wife, Brooke Sealey, in 2002 after seven years of marriage, Bickford says, "I never thought it would happen."
Two years later, the driver began dating Vandebosch following an introduction by mutual friends. "I think it just took meeting the right woman," his mom says of her son's new focus on family.
For the time being, the four-time Nascar winner will make their baby a home on the road, setting up a nursery on the bus the couple take to races. "It's huge," Vandebosch says. "But we're building a new one -- with a crib!"
"We'd like the baby to speak another language, probably French," days Vandebosch, whose parents speak the language and Flemish. "We're looking into French schools in New York."
