Jessica Simpson and boyfriend John Mayer have been enjoying La Dolce Vita with a romantic trip to Rome, Italy.
The giddy lovebirds flew into the Eternal City on Thursday morning on an overnight flight from New York.
Fellow passengers onboard the flight recognized the couple, and Mayer, 29, and Simpson, 26, happily signed autographs.
In typical Simpson fashion, the high maintenance singer-actress didn’t pack light.
Upon arrival, porters had to load five heavy suitcases into the back of a chauffeur-driven vehicle.
Two years ago, Simpson took a make-or-break trip to Tuscany with then-husband Nick Lachey, in an effort to save their relationship. They announced split a month later.
But the trip hasn't seemed to spark any bad memories for the former Mrs. Lachey. Simpson and Mayer were all smiles when they checked into their $2,000-a-night suite at the luxury Hotel De Russie, which is popular with Hollywood stars and royalty.
After spending two hours settling in, they emerged hand in hand for a leisurely lunch at Dal Bolognese, a favorite eatery of Tom Cruise.
The couple spent more than two hours noshing on pasta and salad and sipping wine while pouring over guide books.
“They were smiling and laughing and just having a good time,” a waiter tells Usmagazine.com. “There was also a lot of hand holding going on.”
In a scene straight out of a Hollywood movie, they happily window-shopped their way down the famed shopping street Via del Corso, where they spent an hour in Fendi making several purchases.
On the way back to the hotel, Simpson took a tumble in the cobbled street, but she got up laughing and unhurt.

I am amazed at how eager people are to believe that Jessica slept around during her marriage and they all seem to forget that the adultery rumors started with Nick and a stripper, a co-ed and a ex-girlfriend. Also, at the time there were pictures of him with each one of these people when the rumors hit the papers. I think Nick has just done a really good job of pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. He was just lucky enough to get his side out there and continues to make negative comments about Jessica. If he is happy with Vanessa, why must he constantly talk about Jessica?

I really like these two as a couple and I am a HUGE John Mayer fan. I don't understand why people don't like Jessica. Because she got divorced at 25 years old. She was really young when she fell in love, she was only 18 and hadn't really dated anyone else. When it comes down to it, her father was right (I should bite my tongue), she should have never gotten married so young. She made the mistake of going from her daddy and mommy's house to her husband's house. When some of you reach 26 I really hope that people don't throw back in your face what you said at 22 because we have all said dumb things at that age. Her music isn't that bad, I love her shoes and handbag line and in the end she is just trying to live the best life she can. She is still very young. Finally, for Nick to go around and pretend that he was just blind-sided and doesn't know why the relationship ended is stupid. No relationship ends without you knowing why, or seeing it coming, if you say it does you are in denial.

Why the need to judge people's lives so harshly when we could just pay attention and learn? Turn the microscope on your own lives and tell us what you see. ALL of them, Jessica, John, Nick, Vanessa, are talented and blessed human beings trying to have lives and relationships that make sense under excruciating public scrutiny. Marriage in our 20's is a huge risk if not impossible to make work. We've got to know and love ourselves before we have something to give someone else. Teen-aged success and public adulation pretty much make that impossible and Beauty and Talent become currency used to try to buy Love. Saddest form of prostitution. Have Mercy and Peace out, Kids!

Nick and Jessica's marriage was all for TV. It was set up by her dad to make her famous... Nick just so happened to fall in love whereas Jessica could have cared less. The whole newlyweds thing was all a big fat scam for them to make money and get known.

I have become an anti-Jessica Simpson fan ever since her fame and divorce to Nick Lachey. I just find it odd that Jessica is in Rome, a location where she and her ex-husband Nick Lachey tried to "save" their marriage. And now, she is there with John Mayer? Also, when Jessica was with Nick, her precious daddy was always around even on vacation. Now that she divorced Nick, she doesn't have daddy near John? What's up with that? She should have done that when she was with Nick. Ugh. I know I should not care, but I was a big fan of Jessica Simpson. I liked the fact that she was the opposite of Britney spears and other pop artists, but now she is one of them. She was once a good role model, but now she is just blah. In magazines, she talks about how she wears a cock necklace because she doesn't get any action (prior to John Mayer), and yet you would never hear her say that years ago when she was a virgin. I hate the fact that now she is famous and divorce, she feels that she can sleep around with whoever looks her way. It's very sad. This is what Fame has done to her. Prior to fame, she had a man who loved her and adored her for who she was and apparently that wasn't good enough. She makes me sick.
