Jessica Simpson made a surprise appearance at the CMA Music Festival Block Party in Nashville Wednesday night – but the singer didn't perform her new country single, "Come on Over."

Simpson showed up without on-again, off-again beau Tony Romo, who was practicing with his Dallas Cowboys teammates.

"Come on Over" is receiving positive feedback. "This is as good as any Carrie Underwood song, Keith Kaufman, program director for Nashville's WSIX 97.9 FM told Us. She is scheduled to perform the song on The View on June 25.

Us Weekly reports in its new issue, on newsstands now, that Simpson's controlling father Joe has brought her relationship with Romo to the brink and was the main source behind their split in May – and he even tried to manage the NFL player's career.
