Jimmy Kimmel has gone from belly laughs to belly aches. The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live is recovering after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Wednesday night at a hospital in Los Angeles.

According to his rep, Kimmel, 39, is resting comfortably and is looking forward to getting back to work.

The rest of this week's tapings of the ABC late night talk show have been cancelled until he is back on his feet.

Kimmel, who has two children with his ex wife, has been dating bawdy comedian Sarah Silverman, 36, since 2002.
