John Mayer not only has a new love (Jennifer Aniston, as Us Weekly reports in its latest issue, on newsstands now).
He also has a new 'do.
The singer, 30, hit NYC's Meatpacking District, where he got his locks styled.
Mayer posted photos of Michael J. Fox, Shaun Cassidy, Mary Lou Retton and Kristy McNichol on his Web site as his inspirations.
"Today I set off on my newest project; to grow and maintain an authentic ’80s style feathered haircut," he blogged.
"It’s something I’ve wanted to do for some time and I’m very excited to bring this amazing look into today’s pop culture landscape," he deadpanned.
"The feathered cut," Mayer wrote, "projects an attitude of ease and quiet confidence that seems to have all but eluded our generation. This is a work in progress, and as my hair grows longer it will serve to become a more stirring and poignant statement."
Mayer was named one of Us' Cads of the Year.

Its so funny to me peoples reaction to John Mayer. Regardless of his hair style or how "gay" he looks or how "annoying" his face is, he still dominated the pop scene has over 5 grammys under his belt and has given hope to this generation for a guitar hero that hasn't been seen since SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughn)left us, God rest his soul. He proved himself to be a great singer, song writer and now a Bad A$$ guitar player (Who has played with almost everyone you could think of, from Eric Clapton to Dj Logic)
So here is to all the people out there jealous of John Mayer! If you took him for the musical sound and not the fact that he has been in GQ for his attire and "hair" you'll see some amazing talent!
So pull your heads out of that dark place just south of your spine and listen to the music!

I think he looks great. This is just a haircut, a style, and it is obviously something that he wanted to do. He is a great example of a person being comfortable in his own skin. People should be who they want to be, and do what they want to do, instead of just following trends of the latest new fads.

John Mayer is funny. I've seen him on best week ever a few times. I have also seen him perform live. He is extremely talented. This day and age people who write, sing, and play their own music are a rare few. I respect his musical talent. I don't particularly care for who he's dating this week, last week or last year. I do however have to say that this 80's Jake Ryan 'do is an improvement over his usual Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader/Hayden Christensen copying mess he was sporting a few months ago. So if Jennifer Aniston took him to get a hot shave and a clean cut well, can you blame her?

I was voicing my opinion, that's all. And as for you "judging me" on who I am and what I like after reading a short paragraph on my opinion about John Mayer-you are completely off and rather shallow. Manson is not a musician that I listen to, actually he freaks the shat out of me. John Mayer comes off very full of himself and rather stuck up. When I think of John Mayer, I think of him and a group of others sitting around a camp fire singing soft, make me want to vomit a little in my mouth, songs and that just isn't my cup of tea. Perhaps yours, but not mine. Everyone has "there thing" and that just isn't mine....SORRY.

Ye you probably listen to music like Britney or in your idol music Mareln Mason. I do not even no how to spell his name, the crazy man , who sing about voilence. Did you ever listen to John music? , most of it is romantic and he sing about humantiy too. I do not think you get that kind of music, since your idol are in to being super couple thing.

I love this guy's humor...it's witty, sarcastic and somewhat self-depricating. He doesn't take himself seriously and mocks all that is "celebrity"...and I hope he and Jennifer are hooking up.
