It doesn't take X-ray vision to see that Superman Returns star Kate Bosworth, 23, has lost weight. But is it too much? Yes, says Dr. Linda Hamilton, an NYC eating-disorder specialist in the arts, who points to Bosworth's "emaciated chest" and "collarbone standing out" as signs the five-foot-seven star is too thin. "Thinner is healthier, up to a point," Hamilton says of Bosworth --who dates Orlando Bloom, 29-- "but she does not look healthy."

Yes, she's definately starving herself- natuarally thin women do not have the "bony skeleton" look. If you ever want to be able to tell, the chest, elbows, and knees will tell. These areas will be sunken in and bony, resembling some of the starving children in Ethiopia. As a fitness professional, I've had to diet down to extreme leanness for competition- and I was doing it the "healthy" way...trust me, these women are absolutely miserable, and I wouldn't doubt that many abuse substances to deal with that misery. Just think about it- not only do they physically feel like complete crap, sick, with no energy, but if they eat so much as a cookie they are ridden with guilt. In some, that guilt is so extreme that they go to the toilet afterwards and barf it up. I feel sorry for them, but you've got to wonder why society idolizes such maddness. Think about it- America's waistlines are larger than ever before- but they worship celebrities that are anorexic...something is wrong!

Taste... WTF? She does not look good in this picture. She got that physique because she's anorexic, not because of an exercise and diet plan. If she got that way because of a good diet and exercise plan, then she would have at least have some muscles to hide the bones, but there's nothing but skin and bones there. Nasty. Not hot. Nasty. And Cafe... when do celebrities not carry around $2,000 purses? I don't consider that and a dress to be enough to prove that she's simply trying to get attention out of this.

She looks amazing. She is very slender and lean, which is incredibly sexy. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to one's self to achieve such fitness. She must have a perfect diet and exercise routine. No anorexic has such a lean physique. You must have a very very healthy diet to achieve it. Why does everyone want her to eat a bounce of food that’s horrible for you, like donuts? No wonder the average woman is fat.

i agree with uw blondie! she would look soo much better if she gained a few pounds! i mean..you can see her freakin chest bones. like a walking skeleton...gross. i dont see y every one is obbsesed with being so skinny you can see ur bones.like its just so gross....theres a difference from being thin and skeletal. like its not attractive to be like that..its just gross.

This is so sad. She is such a beautiful girl and has lovely bone structure but she would look so much better if she gained 10 or 20 pounds. I'm recovering from an eating disorder and I've always admired smaller women, but she is to the point that even I think it is kind of disgusting.

In addition, the ironic thing is that back in the 30's and 40's models were of the healthy persuasion and were garnering more attention than the clothes....so the brilliant fashion designers decided to put cancer patients in the clothes, so that they were extremely unattractive, and people would look at the clothes, not the models. Well, wouldn't ya know, brilliant wannabe "models" decided to look like the cancer patients in order to get paid to model clothes....thank you fashion industry for your lovely contributions to society.

I am currently in recovery for an eating disorder, and have just completed a three month period in a in-patient treatment facility. I can honestly say that there are girls who are in-patient that weigh more than she does. However, anorexia is not about the food, it is about coping with other, more serious, underlying mental problems. Many anorexics want to be able to eat, but it's not that easy...the food piece is a small part of recovery. In addition, when you are that thin, your brain does not function properly because it is starved and rational thinking is not really an option....your body is simply trying to survive. I feel sad for her, because I see myself in that picture, and I know what a miserable, lonely place that is.

Yeah she did look good in Blue Crush but she also had to gain almost 30lbs. I think that once she lost her weight for that one movie she just kept on going and then uses the Blue Crush card to cover up her problem.

I just saw photos of Kate at the Superman Returns premiere. She looked so frail. I never thought I would see a photo of Kate when she wasn't glowing. She looks like a concentration camp victim. It is so sad. I have also noticed that her attitude has changed so much. She is so serious when interviewed and has lost that since of fun. Orlando, be a good boyfriend and encourage her to see help now. Otherwise, she won't be around for you to marry! I am just so worried about her....:)Julie
