world is full of hypocrites really. People get mad at her and say don't bite the hand that feeds you yet you know those people complain about their own boss at work. But i think we people in the USA are just ignorant. We are a powerful country and think we know everyone's business. 99% of these people do not even know the politics involved in showbiz and why people do what they do, say what they say, or are even forced to say it. I think people who are thinking that she is full of herself is wrong. She did it because she felt she didn't deserve it with the material the writers gave her. Not sure if you realize this, but the Hollywood industry is pretty vindictive. It's probably not the smartest move to piss off the writers of your own show by insulting their material PUBLICLY (whether true or not, first amendment rights or no). She could have handled the situation quietly. She CHOSE to go public and that has consequences. You would think she would have learned from the controversy over her statements about Knocked Up that it does not look good to launch public attacks like that. How many writers/directors of acclaim do you think are going to want to work with someone who clearly has no problems publicly selling them out when she doesn't like their material? If I were a Grey's Anatomy writer, I'd demote her to an orderly or something.

I completely agree with 8:48's post. If she didn't find herself worthy of a nomination, she could have quietly pulled herself out. If her intentions and motivations were pure, "doing the right thing" would have been enough for her. But she had to go and give an interview about it and make a spectacle of it to once again, speak her loud mind.

She is a sitcom/romantic comedy actress at best. There's nothing wrong with that, and she can make millions and be respectable doing that. She's no Meryl Streep.

And besides, you never see the likes of Meryl Streep or Julia Roberts or Cate Blanchett or other serious actresses making such statements about their previous work.

Grace and dignity can go a long way in this business, as hard as that might be to believe. All KH is doing with these statements is aleniate herself from her most valuable assets, her fanbase.

I have to say this woman makes me sick. I am even starting to hate her character on Grey's. And I used to like her character! Heigl is so ungrateful, stuck up, and mouthy. First she wanted more money on the show because as if she's the main star, then she mouths off about the Writers Strike, then she mouths off about the story in her movie as if they heck she didn't read the script before hand, and now this ? I think SHE is the one that needs to just stop talking period and follow the advice she gave Isaiah Washington! Her whole thing is she thinks she's MORE than what she ACTUALLY IS. She's not going to be this BIG movie star. She better keep her dumb butt on Grey's and be thankful. I have seen this happen over and over with some people. They get a hit show and want to go into movies thinking they will be a super star only to find out after they leave their show, HollyWood doesn't really want them. I mean look she's just an OKAY actress. She's not going to do anything but play in romantic comedies. Who does she think is going to seriously consider her for roles like Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Kate Blanchett, etc have played ? She's always going to be the 27 Dresses or Knocked Up kind of character.

This girl really needs to know when to just be quiet. She could have taken her name out of contention and not talked about it. It seems like she wants the attention...and then she has to back peddle on what she said and say she was "Misquoted" or "Misinterpreted". It's funny how many people are getting "misquoted" these days.

So many hypocrites - you can have an opinion by Heigl can't? All year the press and the fans have criticised Grey's Anatomy and in particular the writing of Katherine's character - the George and Izzie relationship, she even had to rescue a deer! She has not had the material this season (like many others who did choose to submit) but has stepped aside to allow others who have had the material to shine. The fact is with any shows sometimes the storylines focus on a particular character and they have the meatier material for submission. That is just a fact - and clearly she felt she didnt have any big scenes or storylines that warranted selection. It was not a slam on the writers but a decent, honest and noble thing to do. It is a pity more of her peer do not do the same. She may not have won this year or even got a nomination but due to her profile and success she would have definitely been shortlisted and potentially taken away votes from others who perhaps have had material with more substance. Respect to Heigl.
