Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has taken herself out of the race for this year's Emmy Awards.
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention," Heigl told L.A. Times columnist Tom O' Neil. "In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials," she added.
Heigl – who won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series last year – isn't one to hold back her feelings.
The actress dubbed her flick Knocked Up "a little sexist," called a Grey's Anatomy plot line a "ratings ploy" and defended T.R. Knight against a homophobic slur from Isaiah Washington.
"I always tell it like it is," Heigl has said.
