Sometimes a star isn't just born, she's styled.
Us Weekly has compiled the 20 best celebrity makeovers, and sharing the cover are Katie Holmes for "Most Improved" and country star Carrie Underwood for "Sexiest New Style."
Going from girl-next-door to full-on fashionista, Holmes, the former Dawson's Creek star, wouldn't be caught dead climbing t-shirt-clad through a window these days.
Project Runway's Tim Gunn tells Us of Holmes' stunning transformation: "When she first was with Tom Cruise, she looked like a kid. Now she's an elegant woman."
As for Underwood, the American Idol champ who once bragged about her jeans collection is now a consistent red carpet charmer in top designers like Escada and Max Azria. "My fashion vocabulary has expanded!" says Underwood.

Carrie isn't rude...she is just SUPER shy...&& has the right to a private life. I have friends who met her quite a few times because there son was on the show when carrie was...the first time they met they were like "what a snot" Then they realized she was an absolutly wonderful person after meeting her more than once. She really is nice just shy in the begining..and I will definetly support her because I am shy like that too! A lot of people think Im rude until they get to know me and realize I am just shy!

CARRIE UNDERWOOD all the way , she is soooo gorgeous. Katie isn't pretty at all she seems like the kinda girl you would see walking down the street. Carrie Underwood has this kind of beauty that a Disney Princess has. Its innocent , rare and totally beautiful.

I think Carrie Underwood is an attractive enough girl, after saying that, I also think she has a really strange nose...it is really wide and big. It is not attractive at all. I also think she seems like a real snob. I don't think she has "worked" as hard as the other country singers to be where she is today. I do think she has an incredible voice, but I don't know, she just does not seem really nice to me. After saying that... Katie Holmes is a doll!!!!!

I think Carrie Underwood is an attractive girl, but I really honestly think that she is not a nice person. I think all the hype she has gotten and I will say deserved, has gone to her head. There is just something about her that seems not real to me. Think about when she was on American Idol and how she seems now. I know, I know I am going to get ragged for this comment, but it is just my opinion. I also think that she has a really strange nose, it is really wide and big. Now, you can really hate and rag me. But, it is true, a really big wide nose.

How can US magazine put Katie Holmes on the cover and say "20 Best Makeovers----with NO surgery"??!!! Clearly anyone who has ever seen any of her work during her pre-Mrs-Cruise days can tell that her nose has been completely changed! Just watch some episodes of 'Dawson Creek', or rent some of her movies like 'Batman Begins', 'The Gift' or 'Go' and compare for yourself. If I could post a side by side picture on this space, I would just to make my point. Please tell me I'm not the only one who can see this as this is driving me nuts how the tabloids can ignore the obvious!!!

Katie is chic,sophisticated,classy and nothing mean in her bone. She epitomizes the Hollywood glamour and there's nothing trampy about her getup. Katie is just the all around natural beauty and add the fact her baby is the most precious one in Hollywood. Of all actresses its Katie Holmes that many fashion designers are gushing about. Rarely US weekly gets it right but this one I gotta hand it to them. People was sooo right naming her Classic Beauty but now Im laughing with the rest of the public that Matt Damon is their sexiest man alive.
