Katie Holmes: Actress, fashionista .... cook?
Tom Cruise’s wife, who just turned 29 Tuesday, says she plans on hitting the kitchen this Christmas as she celebrates with both sides of their big family in Telluride, Colorado. (Check out her family’s holiday card.)
“I will probably cook some garlic mashed potatoes and maybe a cheesecake,” she says.
She adds that “Tom’s really good in the kitchen ... [he] has shown me the greatness of extra chocolate chips.”
Even 20-month-old international jetsetter Suri will get in on the action by helping Mom make sugar cookies.
“Suri will be in the dough everywhere,” Holmes joked.
She said the family — who include Cruise’s kids with Nicole Kidman, Connor, 12, and Isabella, 14 — will likely go skiing. (She added that “[Tom’s] first two children are incredible, really smart and kind. They call me ‘Mom.’”)
As for the couple’s first child, Suri, Holmes says “we don't like to be away from her.
“She's very aware,” Holmes adds. “This summer, when Tom was working in Germany, she'd wake up and say, ‘Hello, Berlin,’”
Alas, no interview would be complete without Holmes gushing over her husband. (They celebrated their one-year anniversary this year.)
“I appreciate the man that I'm with and my family and my work,” she tells Parade. “I feel very lucky to be able to say that. I mean, what we do in a week is extraordinary.”

I think Tom has taken the children from Nicole and as someone wrote a while ago, she can only have them when HE says so. I made the mistake of being married to two men in my life with a "LITTLE MANS MENTALITY" or Napoleon complex, which I truly believe Tom Cruise has. He is a control freak and if you dont do things his way you will be out on your ass. I understand Nic's husband had a drug problem but he did admit to it and went into treatment. WHAT KIND OF HELP HAS TOM CRUISE WENT FOR? Katie Holmes has said all along when whe was a little girl she always wanted to marry Tom Cruise, so she got what she wanted. If you sell your soul to the devil sometimes you get what you want...and sometimes more. Katie should have looked at his track record with women before she entered his life, but I think and do believe her father as an attorney hatched out a VERY GOOD DEAL .....THE BROAD WILL NEVER HAVE TO WANT TO NOTHING AGAIN IN LIFE...AND NOT BEING MUCH OF AN ACTRESS ...she wont have to worry about doing low budget films.
As I do belive in Christmas and the meaning of it I do wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HOPE EVERYTHING GOES WELL FOR ALL OF YOU READERS IN 2008...so long for now SMILE-)

I don't think that there is anything wrong with the kids calling Katie "mom". I know alot of people who call their step-parents, mom or dad. The problem here is why does their so called mother Nicole never have the kids, you never see her with them, pictures of them together with their step-father and mother and she even admits that she has no problem with the kids calling her Nicole. That isn't normal. If Nicole did such a good job rasing them then why do they not even call her mom? There is nothing wrong with Katie being happy with her family and while I agree that Tom is crazy, i think Katie is a good mom and she has abviously made Nicole and Tom's children feel comforatable and loved.

I am so over Katie Holmes. She is pitiful. I liked her before she hooked up with Tom, but now I can't stand her. And for her to make a comment about the kids calling her Mom,that was totally inappropriate. Not to mention just plain wrong. What is wrong with her? Tom has completely brainwashed his children. They should not be calling anyone mom but NICOLE. I think it shows a lack of class on Katie's part that she even brought that up. Wait ten years Katie until your shown the curb and another woman is being called mom by SURI. Even if the kids do not agree with Nicole's religion (which I think plays a big part in all of this) or her marriage SHE is the one that raised them as well as Tom and she deserves respect and Tom should help enforce it!

Nicole has also referenced that the kids call her Nicole and that they chose to live with Tom and not her. That says something right there. And no ones know what happens behind close doors and so to guess at what we think happened because of articles that written that no ones if they are true or not is ridiculous. Let them be happy and enjoy or not enjoy their lives, only they know what is going on.

Its kind of ironic that recently Nicole revealed that the kids call her "Nicole" and here Katie comes out and makes it a point to let it be known that they call her "mom." Seems like a personal jab at Nicole. The one thing that bothers me is whenever she talks about her family with Tom she almost always only refers to Suri and never Bella and Conner. She must be trying to look like the good family mother hen since its the holidays! When they are in public its always about Suri and you dont see the other two. It's like they are trying to portray their family as just her, Tom and Suri. I feel bad for the other kids. It seems like they are rubbing it in that they arent 'their' kids.

I think the reason the kids are always with Tom & Katie (and Nicole is forced to take a back seat) is because of all of the Scientology stuff. I think Cruise raises them as Scientologists and Nicole doesn't believe in it, therefore a wall has been built between them. Sucks for Nicole but I'm glad she's away from all that Scientology stuff-too bad the kids aren't.

If I were Katie, I wouldn't want them calling me Mom. They are old enough to be her siblings not her kids. Again, I'm sure that's Tom's doing.
Katie has herself in a mess. A beautiful daughter but the price for having that kid is giving up her freedom. She will regret it bigtime one day.
I think she's ruined her life...money and all who cares.

I think that Tom and Katie make MUCH better parents than Nicole ever would. Nicole is never with her children it seems. When you see the entire family unit of Tom, Katie and the kids, they look like a tight, happy, loving family. I wish them all the best. And there's nothing wrong with children calling their step parents mom. And I wouldn't want my kids around a recovering drug addict and plastic mom (Nicole) either!
