Usmagazine.com has learned that Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan filed documents Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. in the family law department of L.A. Superior Court.

Although the documents are under seal, a source tells Us that the papers may be a petition requesting the court to grant Federline primary custody of Sean Preston, 23 months, and Jayden James, 11 months, his children with ex-wife Britney Spears.

As Us Weekly reports in this week's cover story, Federline had been considering filing for full custody of the children in the wake of reports of Spears' questionable parenting as of late.

Spears' lawyer Laura Wasser couldn't be reached for comment.
