Kid Rock has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of battery from a fight at an Atlanta Waffle House last year.

His attorney, Darryl Cohen, entered the plea for him yesterday.

The rocker, 37, was arrested last October after getting into a scuffle with a Waffle House patron who had exchanged words with a woman in Rock's entourage.

At the time, a source close to the musician told Us that Rock meant no harm when he showed up at the greasy spoon.

“Even before they ordered, Rock tipped the staff $300 and then offered to buy the whole place breakfast,” the source said. “One annoying drunk guy starts running his mouth and came after Rock.”

Rock escorted the patron outside and locked him out, the source told Us, but the man allegedly smashed a window and reentered. The fight ensued shortly thereafter.

Said the source, “What should have been an innocent night was ruined by one unruly guy."
