Not anywhere on the cirque lodge's website do they say the facility is for anything aside from drug and alcohol abuse/addiction. Maybe if she stopped self medicating with alcohol she'd cheer up a little.

Kirsten Dunst is opening up about why she checked into a Utah treatment center last year.
“I didn’t go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse,” the actress, 26, tells E! in a new interview. “I went there for depression.”
She says "it was a good six months before I decided to go away.
“I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself," she continues. "I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn't know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge."
As for battling depression, she says celebs are no different than anyone else.
“We’re all in the same boat together," Dunst says. "Depression is pretty serious and should not be gossiped about.”
She says "there’s been a lot of misrepresentation about what is going on in my life," including reports that she was dropped as the face of Miu Miu because of her personal problems.
Those claims, she says, are "very painful for my friends and family.
“Everyone feels like they have to defend me. They hear the rumors, and it puts them in a defensive position," she adds. "Now that I’m feeling stronger, I [am] prepared to say something.”
Lastly, Dunst set the record straight on one last rumor: "I am not dating [my All Good Things co-star] Ryan Gosling!”

APPLICATION TO BEFRIEND KRISTEN....
May i be your friend Kristen, so you can take me along for your next session. I am depressed, pls help.
11:14 depression is not an easy fix!!!!!!!!!!! you are a very sad person to leave those comments.
LIAR LIAR LIAR...... CAN'T ADMIT SHE IS A ALCOHOLIC!
ok first off for all of you talkin crap, why dont you look at every other celeb and tell me they dont have problems. Depression is not an easy thing to deal with and for the one who said antidepressants are the answer you are wrong. You really want to be on drugs the rest of your life, no she wants to get help. Famous people are humans to and go through the same things we do they just have money to keep it hidden.
6:21 is right. A rehab will not admit you unless you are addicted to a substance. That's just a fact.
Just wanted to say that I went to a rehab place for depression there were also people with drugs and alcohol and all sorts of issues. Some places just don't advertise it to the public.
I'm going to have to call the BS on Kristin's statement! My whole family has had depression at some point or another, and it was a pretty easy fix. It's called antidepressants. We didn't need 6 months in a 'rehab' facility for depression. Nobody does. If they did everyone would be broke & depressed because nobody could afford that. By the way Miss Kristin, if you're depressed you're not supposed to drink alcohol. SOOOOOO. Me thinks that was the REAL reason you went to rehab and you just decided to call it 'depression'. What's sad is that by not being honest with yourself or the public you are A) being terribly pathetic & B) doing a disservice to people with real depression. Now they will think that they can't afford treatment, because they can't go away for six months! Good job, Kristin, you're as bad as Tom Cruise.
I would like to say that it is very nice to see someone come out about depression. It is one of the hardest things to go through, and I applaud anyone that can overcome the battle with depression. Depression is one of those things that just doesnt go away. I went through a depression stage at 14 and now years later, I am still going through relapses and I wish I was a celebrity, so that I could just go into rehab and fix all my problems. But it really isnt that easy. And i certainly dont think it will be easy for Kirsten. Depression will be there for the rest of everyone's life that is so unfortunate to go through it, but with love and support it is certainly easier to overcome. I give Kirsten a bunch of props for coming out about her depression, and it makes me feel a lot better knowing that someone else is going through the same hardships as "normal" people.
Alcohol and drugs are vices of depression. I hope she got the help she needed.
If You People HAve Nothing Good To Say..Keep it to Yourselves!!
Oh whatever, lush. This speech just screams pre-emptive "falling off the wagon" defense to me ("Well sure you see me swigging from this bottle of vodka, but that's ok. I'm not an alcoholic. I was just DEPRESSED.")
I do believe Kirsten, you go girl for sticking up for yourself, and I'm sorry to hear that there have been hurtful rumors that offend you're family & friends, etc.
There are many rehabs which will admit you for depression, even if they are a substance abuse center at their core. I've been in one, it happens. The thought that treatment centers are only for drug and alcohol abuse is absurd. Sometimes treating depression is seen as a preventitive measure for substance abuse. I don't know about Kirsten, but the fact that she got help for any kind of problem is commendable.

4:33 PM ilovepeanutbuttercups... Says:
Yah right what ev... She didn't look too depressed right before she went into "rehab" while she was out partying. I'm sorry, but I believe there is some truth to every rumor & I believe she has a problem with substance abuse. I hope she gets her teeth fixed...
Who are you to say she should get her teeth fixed? Why should she get them fixed just to make your lard butt happy? Yours are probably half-rotten from all the peanut butter cups you eat.
No, I don't believe her. You don't go to the Cirque Lodge for depression. It is for alcohol and substance abuse. If she were suffering for depression and needed inpatient help, she wouldn't go there. I do think it is possible she has depression, but it isn't far fetched to believe that she has a substance abuse problem along with it. She was heavy on the club scene and drugs are passed around like candy, not to mention all the drinking that goes on. So it is very possible. Perhaps it is just easier to put depression out in public, since substance abuse tends to be looked at in a worse way. I don't think that necessarily means she's in denial, but wants to take care of it privately. Anyone who knows a person who has struggled with substance abuse or has been through it themselves knows of the difficulties--going through that in public with paparazzi following your every move, analyzing whether you have alchohol in that glass, and whatnot would make it much harder.
It's not far fetched to believe that she had a substance abuse problem. That was said to be the main factor in Jake Gyllenhoweveryouspellit splitting with her. He made a comment that he couldnt handle her constant partying. I hope it was just depression because if the real reason truly was substance abuse, and she is denying it, then she still has a problem...
depression and substance abuse can be comorbid..she prob had bith and is just admitting to one
If I were in a rehab facility for my drug or alcohol addiction and some rich actress came strolling in with her depression issues, I would be furious!! Rehab is for those with substance abuse problems and those who readily admit they have a problem and are seeking help.
If she has a problem with depression, she should definitely seek help. The way I see it, seeking help for her "depression" at a rehab facility happened for two reasons:
1: She has issues with depression but went to a rehab facility for the publicity and to get her name back out there, or
2: She has a substance abuse problem and just won't own up to it.
Does it matter what she went there for? People should be happy for her recover (whatever it was). It's none of our business.
O.K. now 7:21 is running a close race for the idiot title!
6:21 is right. A rehab will not admit you unless you are addicted to a substance. That's just a fact.
6:21 you are by far the biggest idiot I have seen on here in a while good job you got the title!lol
Too bad she's not with Ryan Gosling....he is a HOTTIE!!!!!!!!!
6:21- She went there for therapy bottomline!
You can't possibly be that ignorant, can you?
Anon 6:21 (both) - I'm sure this facility has no problem opening its doors to anyone with a famous name and the $$$ to pay for a stay there. After all, it's free publicity. I digress. Plus, it's probably a nice getaway where she could focus on herself and what step she wants to take in her life. Good for her, I say!
You don't go to rehab for depression, you go to a mental health facility (think insane asylum). Rehab is for drug or alcohol dependency and/or physical rehabilitation after one suffers a stroke or other debilitating injury where their motor skills have been compromised. If Kirsten suffers from depression and is seeking treatment good for her. The only reason anyone knows that she went anywhere is because the media can't leave these people alone for five minutes. That's what drives them crazy or to drugs and alcohol in the first place. On any given day at least one celebrity goes public with some type of mental health issue, addiction, story of abuse, etc. If you look at the percentage of actors, musicians, comedians, news people, etc that have some kind of sob story it's ridiculous. Look at the law of averages, if those afflications were in the general population at the rate that celebrities are affected everyone would be in the corner sucking their thumb by now. Celebrities need an excuse for their bad behavior so they claim to have the ailment du jour, most of which are made up by doctors and pharmaceutical companies so they can make more money. Sad, but true.
i checked out the cirque lodge web page it's all about drug and alcohol recovery...not a thing about mental health issues such as depression...maybe she was diagnosed w/ depression while in rehab and feels more comfortable with that than the title of addict...
anon 4:33 go buy some glasses or is it that you just weigh 300 pounds?
Ok....you all suck...well so does she...so I guess you can all just suck together!
Ignorance towards those with mental health concerns is so last century.
