Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas nabbed the first 10s of the season on last night's Dancing With the Stars.
The two — who have been the top scorers on the show so far — wowed the judges with their paso doble. (Their score: 10-9-10.)
"I was like, 'Yeeesss!'" Yamaguchi told Usmagazine.com after her performance. "You just feel like it validated all the work you did. It was a tough week — emotionally draining. We knew we had to be really good this week."
Despite Mario and Karina Smirnoff only earning an 8-7-9 for their paso doble, the R&B singer told Us, "I thought we could have had a higher score — we killed it!"
Derek Hough may have injured his neck last week, but he and Shannon Elisabeth still managed to earn a 9-10-9 for their Viennese waltz.
"I could have not done it without Shannon," Hough told Us. "She has been the best pain killer there is!"

I find the show much more interesting because of Kristi Yamaguchi. Her dancing is better than I ever expected. She also seems to be influencing the other celebrities to set a higher standard for themselves which makes the show more fun to watch this season.

I love Kristi as a skater- but she came into this with a huge advantage. I know people will say "she was an ice skater not a dancer" and disagree- but the truth is in skating you have to master choreography, matching your moves to the music and show grace and poise. A vast majority of skaters take dance lessons in order to balance the artistry and technical aspects-Kristi may not have but if you have seen her skate it isn't hard to imagine her off of blades and gliding on the dance floor. Don't get me wrong- she is wonderful on the show but I wish this program would be more about someone with 2 left feet progressing to a wonderful dancer. Any contestant that has previous experience (Mario-this season,Lopez from b4 and many others) shouldn't be on. I like Jason because he certainly wasn't a dancer, Marlee and I really would like to see how Adam improves- but that won't happen b/c he will be voted off soon. Thats the fun of the show- watching someone goof on the first few episodes then flourish into something nobody would have ever believed. Thats entertainment!

I LOVE Kristy!! She was a fantastic ice skater and so it's no surprise to me that she is an awesome dancer too. In the end, it will be her, Jason Taylor, and Mario.
