get off your high horse and read about alcoholism- The genetic and environmental factors.

Not all diseases are equal obviously, so comparing one disease to another is useless. Your argument that since Parkinsons is a disease, that Alcoholism is not is shallow.

Stop your backward thinking. Research is proving that alcoholism is more than having one too many drinks. If you read about it instead of judging others with problems you've been lucky enough not to have, then maybe you'll understand why people struggle with it.

Disease my *ss. Tell someone with ALS or Parkinson's that having one too many drinks is a disease!

It's a problem that can be controlled by choice. Not saying it's easy but I'm so sick of hearing all these people claiming that problems they bring on themselves is a disease. It's an insult to people who have no choice in their disease - being suffocated to death by ALS, trapped in your own body with your mind working fine, unable to do anything for yourself.

I've witnessed this and have no sympathy for self inflicted problems. Get help, get sober, get clean. But don't make yourself sound like a victim!

I'm so happy to hear that Kristin Davis's battle with alcohoslism is going well for her, I wish her nothing, but the best for a great life, etc.

BLV, i get what your saying-I think we are slightly on the same page-Amy Wino is a mess, and to think it is ok to spiral downward and not care who sees it is wrong, just as it is for celeb rags to publicize and "glorify" it. There is no good that can come of that, but to show a person what drugs will do to you, and become the unoffical "poster child" of drug use. But this Davis article is in such a completely different realm. This is a grown woman who has overcome her battle, has not taken a drink since becoming famous and I don't care who you are, that has to be hard in a fantasy world like Hollywood. Even people that don't drink even occassionally take a sip here or there, so she has been able to go this long w/out "glorifying" the whole process. I don't necessarily see why people should air their laundry, but at the same time, I don't think she should hide it either-like I said before, after reading the article, it's as if she is sharing a part of herself, just like anything else that makes up a person, and just b/c it might be a "bad" thing, she's clearly not doing it for show. I think if anything, she could have held it under wraps, but then maybe it gives those people who do battle it that there is hope if a woman who lives in this type of world can battle it and win.

I just think somethings should be kept personal and private. What celeb hasn't been to rehab or is there now - or will be going?? I'm glad she has it undercontrol - but why the need to share? I think it is the wrong kind of publicity. Off the topic a little...........just like Amy Whinehouse - she got a Grammy. I think it's wrong to glamourize that life style and award them for it. Make sense? I think awards should be about talent - and for the type of people they are as well. I think of high school - and if you get in trouble or a minor - you are on probation - don't get your awards - and you almost get stripped of titles you may have earned because of it.

blv, that would make no sense - she's an actress - since when are "characters", besides Disney, role models? and role models for who? the women who watch the show? i understand where you are coming from, and I understand your point, but you can tell from the interview (if you even bothered to read it), is that she is not "flashing" her dirty little secrets to promote anything - it was a candid interview, and she is a classy woman who overcame an addiction - i think that is role model material, do you agree?

I just get tired of hearing about every celeb's problem. Maybe if she wanted to be a "true" role model, she would have said "no" to her character having any form of alcohol. That would be respectful!

The fact that Kristin is an alcoholic has been on wikipedia forever actually. I think reporters are bringing it up now to create a story about someone other than SJP, instead of HER doing it for publicity.

funny how she comes out w/ this now - w/ the movie coming out! All celebs do this when something is coming up for them..... new movie.....new record....blah blah blah

This is a wonderful article! Kristin is my new hero! A lot of people battle REAL alcoholism (not the celeb, "I have the flu I am going to rehab" thing) every day. Women like Kristin are an inspiration and a blessing! Good luck girl! I hope you have a wonderful, happy, sober life!
