Lane Garrison is speaking for the first time since he was sentenced to 40 months in state prison in his vehicular manslaughter trial last October.
In a letter to Access Hollywood, the former Prison Break star, 27, writes:
“Greetings and Happy New Year to you and everyone at Access Hollywood from Donovan State Prison [in California]. Never did I think I would be saying the words ‘happy & prison’ in the same sentence and not be on a set. It’s pure irony coming from the show and now living the real deal. It’s surreal and mind-blowing to say the least.
"Just this past Monday they let a group of inmates watch the season premiere of Prison Break. It felt like an out of body experience as I stood around a crowd of tattooed felons watching Michael Scofield [Wentworth Miller's character on Prison Break] try to escape … all of us longing to be free as well!
"This has been the hardest year of my life. I hope people, young and old, are learning from my mistakes and what can happen when you drink and drive. I have much to say about the pain I’ve felt and seen inside of prison. It has been eye-opening and a harrowing experience.”
In 2006, Garrison was involved in a car accident that killed a 17-year-old male passenger and injured a 15-year-old female.
He pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence and two other alcohol-related charges.

I have to agree. Each offense, no matter who does it should get the same amount of time. He is complaining how miserable prison is. At least he is alive. What about the young man who will never have life again and his family. Boo hoo. I feel no pity. He should be happy that he got such a short sentence.

I don't get why he gets 40 months and a certain singer involved in a similar accident doesn't get any jail time. I think the system sucks to pick and choose who gets jail time and who doesn't. It doesn't make sense!

put ' Mommy's Girl' on my grave.
Someone should have taught him,
That it's wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his parents had,
I'd still be alive
My breath is getting shorter,
Mom I'm getting really scared
These are my final moments,
and I'm so unprepared.
I wish that you could hold me Mom,
As I lie here and die.
I wish that I could say, 'I love you, Mom!'
So I love you and good-bye.

He got what he deserved.. give him a break. not only did he drink and drive but he ended up taking a life, and now having a part of his taken away from him, the sad part is he will never be able to give the family back their lost one or change his mistake. At least he was a man and is in there doing his time and not trying to use his celebrity status to cut him loose early.

Its about time a star takes responsiblity and attempts to make a good example for those who need it! Yes a lot of people screw up but some more then others don't learn. I give this man a ton of credit for what he's been thru and what he's going thru now. A lot of people look down on this but his actions are proving he's begging for forgiveness. I'm sorry this happened to him but he is in my thoughts and prayers!
