Law & Order star and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson quit the Republican presidential race Tuesday.
"Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort," he said in a statement, the Associated Press reports.
The news comes after Thompson's string of poor finishes in early primary and caucus states. In the January 19 primary in South Carolina — a state that he had said he needed to win — Thompson ranked third.
He did not say whether he would endorse any of his former rivals.

I think Mitt Romney will win over the voters that Fred Thompson had. According to The Awful Truth, Mitt Romney is favored to win the election. Ron Paul is not popular with most Republicans because he is a little crazy in the head.

I really like Fred. He is right on with everything I feel strongly about. I just don't understand why he seemed almost reluctant to be in the running. I guess I can't blame him.
I would've voted for him, still would, I just think he needed to come out stronger and earlier than he did.

As long as it is not Hilary Clinton or Obama i am fine. I liked Fred Tompson at the bigining of the race and am sad to see that he has droped out.
