Lindsay Lohan's mug shot. She was arrested for drunk driving in Santa Monica, CA on July 24, 2007.
It didn't take long for Lindsay Lohan to go back to her old ways. The AP reports that the actress was busted for drunk driving early Tuesday in Santa Monica, her second DUI in two months.
The Santa Monica Police Department found Lohan outside her white GMC Yukon when responding to a call about a car chase, said Sgt. Shane Talbot. Passengers in a black Cadillac Escalade said they were being chased by a white SUV, driven by Lohan. Police met up with the SUVs in the parking lot of Santa Monica's Civic Center.
In a press conference held Tuesday morning, Lt. Alex Padilla told reporters that the mother of Lohan's personal assistant was driving the vehicle being chased by Lohan. "Just prior to the chase—I'm not exactly sure how long prior—the personal assistant had quit," Padilla said.
Police said Lohan had two passengers in her vehicle, and there were three people in the other vehicle.
Lohan, 21, was taken into custody at 1:30 AM after failing a field sobriety test. A breath test was conducted and her blood alcohol was between .12 percent and .13 percent, Talbot said. California's legal limit is 0.08 percent. "[Lohan] did not want to do the preliminary alcohol test out that we conduct in the field," Padilla explained to reporters, "so we did it in jail and that's where she blew the .12 or .13."
She was was booked at 2:13 AM on two misdemeanor charges of suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license and two felony charges of possession of cocaine and transport of a narcotic, Talbot said.
Officers found cocaine in one of Lohan's pants pockets during a pre-booking search.
Lohan was later released on $25,000 bail, according to police.
The actress checked out of the Promises treatment center in Malibu on July 13 after 45 days of treatment. She entered the facility on May 28 after a wild Memorial Day weekend, in which she was arrested for DUI. While searching her car, cops found a substance tentatively identified as cocaine.
Since leaving rehab, Lohan has voluntarily worn an alcohol monitoring bracelet around her ankle (it's not court-ordered, but voluntary) because, her rep tells Us, "she's committed to her sobriety."
In a statement to TMZ, Lohan's attorney, Blair Berk, said: "Addiction is a terrible and vicious disease. Since Lindsay transitioned to outpatient care, she has been monitored on a SCRAM bracelet and tested daily in order to support her sobriety. Throughout this period, I have received timely and accurate reports from the testing companies. Unfortunately, late yesterday I was informed that Lindsay had relapsed. The bracelet has now been removed. She is safe, out of custody and presently receiving medical care."
