Lindsay Lohan knows last year – with a stint in rehab, a public relapse, car accidents, and arrests – was rough.
"When I look back on this last year, it’s like, what was I thinking?" the 21-year-old tells Harper's Bazaar in its March issue.
Lohan, who relapsed in January, was ordered to work at a morgue as part of her punishment for misdemeanor drunken driving.
The actress also says estrangement from her father likely played a role in her raucous behavior.
"Not seeing my father was really hard for me, and not being with my family enough," the star says.
"I wasn’t taking any time to just sit and live and breathe," she says. "I was going, going, going, and that ran me down. It was a stressor. It upset me. I didn’t have a father to call, and that was a lot of the pain."
Lohan was estranged from her father, Michael, for three years until an emotional reunion in September when she was in rehab.
Michael, a recovering alcoholic, had served two years for DUI and assault charges stemming from a 2005 conviction.
"I've learned so much, though, like learning to love my life a different way," Lohan adds. "And I wasn’t taking the time to feel my feelings. Being away and going to a place where I could learn about that and take the time with a clear mind to get back on the right track was nice."
But she maintains optimism for her fledgling music career. "I’d love to work with Timbaland," she says. "I’d love to work with Kanye West, 50 Cent if I could."

You can't tell in this picture because it is so airbrushed, but have any of you ever noticed that she consistently sports an orange mustache? It's obviously a self-tanner, and I'm a huge advocate of protecting one's skin from sun damage, but can't she apply it a little more evenly? Doesn't anyone tell her how ridiculous it looks? The bleached hair, orange skin, and heavy makeup are not flattering. Neither is her personality.

To truly recognize you have an addiction is to do what you can to avoid those addictions. These skanky b*#@hes are making a complete joke out of rehab. Rehab is a real thing that is needed to help people, not give you a place to hide out to avoid going to jail!!! Let's see, she ruined a relationship by banging a guy IN rehab...that is a HUGE no-no!!! You are supposed to avoid sex, booze, gambling, drugs, etc. All the addictive things!!
The minute she does what is real to get clean, THEN I'll go see a movie of hers.

She'd believe anything you say. You don't come out of rehab and do the things you're doing. You live quietly and stay away from what takes you back. You didn't learn a thing except how to get away with more without even trying. Just because you made a few movies you think that entitles you. Someone else said it and I totally agree - Your time is up Lohan. You're annoying and you need to go away. By the way...how old is your sister? She looks like she could be your aunt. And orange makeup is not a good look for you. Just so you know -

My mother was an alcoholic and eventually it killed her. I also grew up without a father and I was still able to graduate from college. I don't feel sorry for Lindsay Lohan, but I do believe that everyone deserves a second chance. I am sure there were people in her life she could have turned to rather than behaving terribly and blaming her actions on her childhood. There are many people who have been in worse situations and have done great things with their lives. It is such a shame she wasted the opportunities given to her.

In a previous article she said "I'm a really nice person." Yea right! She's self absorbed and spends all her time going to lunch and 'being seen'(especially making out with men). Maybe if she did something with depth like Natalie Portman or Angelina Jolie people might see her thru different eyes. Whoever said she has no style and always looks dirty nailed it. With all the money she spends on herself you'd think she'd look cute and stylish instead of skanky.
She's still a lost little girl who thinks the world revolves around her. I imagine rehab helped some, but she's got more work to do on herself.

Who cares, why does she even warrant a mag cover, she doesn't have a movie coming out or anything, she's boring a has-been, she destroyed herself. Some people are capable of changing, but I don't buy it from her for some reason. There are more interesting and mature young actresses around, this girl is so done, overexposed and I couldn't watch her in any movie anymore without her baggage coming into it. Even my tween nieces who liked her can't stand her anymore (and that was her core audience).

I agree, so many young actresses that are better than her like Ellen Page. I don't believe a word this girl says, she hasn't changed, she is saying what she thinks is the right thing to say. To me she's not known as an actress anymore she's just someone who loves the pap/tabloid attention and still does because all she does is shop and dine EVERYDAY, if she was serious, she'd really lie low and disapear, concentrate on her rebuilding. Since her downfall, nobody cares about her. She doesn't seem to be getting hired by studios, despite being available (probably because they know the public is done with her). It must just be killing her that her peers, like the super-talented Ellen Page are getting all the kudos, awards and roles that Lindsay felt she deserved.

Does anyone really believe this girl is clean? She is doing the post rehab rounds and now its time for her to officially purge. Before she going around announcing anything maybe she should stay "sober" for at least 6 months before claiming she's totally changed.
