BREAKING NEWS: Lindsay Lohan Charged with DUI

 James Devaney/WireImage.com Lindsay Lohan is in big trouble with the Beverly Hills police. The actress, who turns 21 on July 2, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning, after a long night of clubbing in Los Angeles. At a press conference on Saturday afternoon, police confirmed they found a “useable amount” of a drug tentatively identified as cocaine at the scene. Lohan sustained injuries in her lower chest when her black Mercedes convertible struck a curb on Sunset Boulevard at about 5:30 a.m., police said. Two other people were in the car and all three left the scene of the accident shortly after it happened, according to Lt. Mitch McCann of the Beverly Hills police. No one else was hurt and no other cars were involved. Officers went to the scene after receiving a 911 call about the accident, McCann said. Lohan and her friends had already left for the Century Park Hospital in another vehicle. Officers tracked Lohan down at the hospital, where she was placed under arrest. Because she was admitted for treatment for her injuries, she was subsequently cited and released on the misdemeanor charge. "Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot reveal what her Blood Alcohol Content was, nor can we reveal if there were narcotics in her blood stream at the time of the accident," McCann told reporters on Saturday. Lohan will have to appear in court to answer the citation, and additional charges including felony drug possession and drinking underage may be added after the DA office’s reviews the evidence, McCann said. Lohan’s rep could not be reached for comment. It has been a difficult year for the hard partying actress, who checked in to Wonderland, a residential rehabilitation center in L.A. on January 17. Lohan spoke recently about her decision to enter the facility. "I said, 'I need to take control of my life. I need to take this time and I need to get my s*** together,'" she told an Australian newspaper as she was promoting her latest movie, “Georgia Rules.” "I chose to go to Wonderland myself just because my life was unmanageable and I wasn't taking care of myself and I wasn't making the right decisions and I didn't know how to.” Earlier this month, a British newspaper published photos that allegedly showed Lohan doing cocaine in a nightclub bathroom. At the time, her mother Dina told US Weekly that her daughter is "so misunderstood" and lamented the constant press attention. “All she wants to do is act and have a somewhat normal life. i think this system is so unfair, if it was a regular 20 yrs old that was found with drugs and underage drinking they would be facing some charges and probably be locked up. so i don't understand why lindsey lohan can get away with it? its kind of sad that celebrities with money get away with things like possessions of drugs. i swear i hate that lindsey lohan she needs to OD on something and go somewhere. everytime she is seen drinking and nothinng is done. this system is really fcuked up!!!!

hmm...i agree with the harshness, i dont want her to die. how is she possibly the sexiest woman when shes off gallivanting and has ruined herself before she even was allowed to drink? she does look older than me and i share the same bday as her but am 4 years older! her "momager" is a joke and she has an awful support system. whos to say that having one would change her behaviour, if ur an addict ur an addict.

i like lindsey lohan simply because she brings these stories about her to herself. she's always getting caught, and it makes the public (me) interested in her stories and what she does next... she says she doesn't like the attention, and she is simply trying to just live a normal life, but i think she feeds off the attention. its probably her natural instinct, and knows nothing else, but being in the public eye and messing up all the time. poor lindsey... yeah right, gagg me with a spoon!

The girl needs to be in jail, no if's, ands, or buts, about it. I think her Mom is just as much to blame for always making excuses for her horrible behavior. The chick has plenty of money to buy $100K cars, but not enough to GET A DRIVER or a CAB... And the clubs that served her booze ought to be cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor. Lose the liquor license for a while and see who drinks and drives. She's had ample opportunities to be treated with kid gloves, now I think the judge should throw the book at her and send her butt to jail for a few years, just like Daddy-o. Maybe then, she'd smarten up. Let's hope she HAS some brain cells left to get into rehab PRONTO before she goes to the big house!

Last friday night I went to the dime and jones bar in hollywood. I had a great time and only had a few drinks throughout the whole night... We ended up meeting these guys who said they has a "suite" at the Mondrian hotel. A friend and I agreed to go for a little while and head home shortly after because I had to work the next morning at 10.

I hate to be the one to say this, but as a recovering alcoholic, I know first hand that ONE stay in rehab is very rarely enough to stop someone's abuse of drugs and/or alcohol. At least she went and got a start on it, which is more than a lot of people do. is drinking and driving a smart thing to do??? absolutely NOT. In no way am I condoning it. But to say that Lindsay should DIE already is a bit harsh. One stay in a rehab centre very, very rarely is enough for people - it took me four. People who quit after one attempt are very lucky. Think about smoking, not many quit after the first attempt. She needs help for sure, and I hope she gets it. Post new comment |
