UPDATE: Madonna Granted Permission to Adopt Son

 jdl/crb/mjs/Finalpixx.com Madonna is now the official permanent guardian of son David Banda, who she adopted from Malawi, a judge there ruled Wednesday. Though Banda, 2, has been staying with Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie since October 2006, the adoption process is just now complete. (These stars have also adopted.) Banda's biological father Yohane told Usmagazine.com exclusively: "I am glad this is over now. I am happy for David." "I gave Madonna 100% rights for my son," Yohane said. "He is her son. It's because of her benovent nature that he assured me she will not cut ties with me." "We wish David and [his] mum, new dad, sister and brother would join us," he added. "We are now family." Madonna recently premiered a documentary she made about orphans in Malawi. "I was allowed to view footage and photographs of a lot of the children," she told Oprah Winfrey in 2006. "An 8-year-old girl who is living with HIV was holding this child. I became transfixed by him. … But I didn't yet know I was going to adopt him. I was just drawn to him." Madonna said David had survived malaria and tuberculosis but "no one looking after [his] welfare." Madonna, 49, and Ritchie have two other children: Lourdes, 11, and Rocco, 7. Congratulations to Madonna & her family for finally getting permission for David Banda's adoption! Madonna & her husband, Guy Ritchie, and her two biological kids, Lourdes and Rocco, will be great parents & siblings, respectively, as they have been since Madonna adopted David almost two years ago from Malawi, this long process has finally ended, etc.

10:20 I agree 100%. No matter where you adopt from, it's still a huge problem worldwide. Even though there are many in foster care here, you better believe they still have it better than orphanges in very poor countries. Let's just praise the fact a very poor kid has a great home, food to eat, and clothes on his back. Don't turn a positive to a negative.

I agree about adopting from anywhere you choose. One of the best privileges we have in this country is freedom of choice.

Adoption is cool no matter where you adopt them from. I know a lot of people wonder why they go to other Countries when plenty of U.S. kids need adopting as well. As long a kid is getting a good home, that's all that matters. Post new comment |
