David Banda was living in an orphanage for many months after his father dropped him off there to place him FOR ADOPTION. Madonna adopted David and he is now Madonna's son. The life David will experience as Madonna's son is a gift compared to the life he would experience remaining in that orphanage and THOSE were the choices.

I'm adopted, and I would NEVER want to be part of an open adoption. I finally met my birth mother about 7 years ago (at age 28) and THAT was pretty hard to deal with (and I had always known that I was adopted). I don't agree that open adoptions are in the best interest...

i agree with 6:45 and 6:49. boundaries are going to extremely important. the kid is going to grow up a complete mess if he is allowed "visitation rights" for his bio father and grandmother. sorry, but the little boy is madonna and guy's now. it would only mess him up. yes, he's going to know he's adopted, and they can keep a current address for when he gets older and IF he wants to contact his real dad. but as far as visiting and keeping in constant contact, i would have to say no. after all, it's important for him to feel that he's not just living with some wealthy friends because dad is too poor to take care of me. and the father may very well be after whatever little david may get some day. it wouldn't suprise me one bit. but you know what would be AWESOME? IF THE DAMN PRESS WOULD LEAVE THIS ALONE AND GET SOME NEW MATERIAL. david's dad probably wouldn't even have KNOWN she was there if it wasn't plastered on every news paper and magazine.

David's father and the other members of his family had no interest in visiting David during the two years he spent in the orphanage and now he's pulling this pathetic "woe is me" spin? Give me a break!

2:07: yes, i do know that. it is what you call on open adoption. there is also the other kind (closed?) where there is NO contact. is there a written contract where madonna states that she will bring david back? does it say somewhere that she has to send letters, pix, whatever of david back to his father? is the adoption process even final, putting all or none of these "rules" into effect? or is this just what madonna is saying (she'll bring him back to visit his father)? because in a court of law, that won't hold up. i can SAY i'm going to pay the guy for running into his car, but you can bet they're going to put it into writing and send everyone involved a copy of the paper work. they need to put it in writing if it's what BOTH of them want. the only reason we're even hearing about david's dad is cause the press won't let it go. you don't hear about angie's adopted kids parents wanting their kids back and all that crap. that and she chose kids whose parents didn't live a few miles down the road, giving them access to the celebrity. so you can take your little soap box speech and shove it honey.

He seems quite the publicity hound from past events, and they all need to just move on as a family. If he wanted to see the child so much, he should have kept him!

When you put a child up for adoption or put them in an orphanage isnt that the same thing????? You relinquish your rights to that child . All you people are stupid as hell . He has no rights to the child after he took him to that orphanage. Im sure the laws arent that different. He couldnt take care of him!!!

Mathilda: obviously you don't know much about adoption...most people have "open adoptions" now where the birthparents can visit the child. And I do believe Madonna said he'd let David visit from time to time.

Since when adoptive parents just go on to visit the natural parents just so they can see their kids from time to time... you put him up for adoption therefore is it healthy to f^ck up your kid by mixing up his present life and his previous one??

I am sorry I am not a Madonna fan but she doesn't have to let the biological father see his son. he gave him up for adoption and unless they wrote it up to be an open adoption she doesn't have to do anything about making contact with this man. I personally think the man is just trying to gain exposure for his own monetary benefits. he never had contact with his son before the adoption I think I read he had only ever seen him 1 time. Yes, I understand that he is a poor man of little means who lost his wife and other children... but that was his child and until Madonna came in the picture he had nothing to do with him. Why confuse this child whom Madonna and Guy are trying to get to feel secure and loved in thier family?
