Where was Madonna when Britney was going through the worst period of her life. NOwhere!! Madonna was nowhere, she certainly didn't come to Britney's aid, BUT now she is speaking out to anyone who will listen to her stupid rants!!! Madonna is such a hypocrite!!! She has an album coming out no doubt! or something else to promote, and needs some free press, so all of a sudden she is Britney's biggest supporter. For an old woman, Madonna's is just pathetic!!! When Britney really needed a friend and a mother figure in her life, Madonna was nowhere to be found. Madonna needs to keep it that way, and keep her mouth shut, because without Madonna's help, Britney was able to get it together.

Um, they do a lot of things in Africa. They still practice female circumcision in parts of Africa. Most of it isn't exactly developed.

Madonna needs to retire like Cher. In her weak attempts to stay relevant she's beginning to seem like an imbecile. Besides the fact that she was Britney's #1 role model, Brit has a mental disorder that was probably made worse by people like Madonna who used her (such as recruiting her into Kabalah just to get publicity). She needs to shut up and get some more botox treatments.

WTF is Madonna talking about? She steals, oops, I mean adopts one child from Africa and now she knows everything that goes on there? Wasn't Madonna the one depicting voodoo and witchcraft in her videos? What is the actual point of this comparison anyway? Witchcraft = Paparazzi? Madonna, stay off the steroids!!!

Madonna wouldn't know the suffering of hundreds of innocent children, women and men falsely accused of practicing Witchcraft in Africa - how dare she compare her own suffering to the suffering of hundreds of women and children torn from their homes, beaten, raped, set alight by their neighbours, villagers, family, and all because of an irrational fear of Witchcraft motivated by centuries of religious propaganda.

Madonna, wake up! Better to stick to a subject you know something about. Stop perpetuating the urban myths. You don't know what you're talking about.

If you want to start blaming other people for inflicting cruelty, think of all the years that Madonna sold her promiscuity into the culture and the girls who bought it, thinking it was glamorous and consequence-free, when they otherwise wouldn't have. Think of the ones who were devastated and started cutting on themselves when confronted with the reality that they were just being cynically used for sex by pigs who knew that the girls were deluded. Who was feeding on whom?

Now, those girls are responsible for their own choices, not Madonna. Unlike Madonna, I don't think the papps have any metaphysical power over Britney or anyone else. There is only cause and effect. People bring things on themselves. The papps could not be taking advantage of the situation if Britney had not let herself lapse like that.

In fairness, she didn't blame the U.S. per se - she was criticizing an aspect of Western culture in general.

But her comment reveals her superstitious (Kabbalah) mentality - that a person's will alone can determine the mental or existential state of another. If she wants to go there, then she should consider that Africans have actually been documented to die of fear when a pagan spell was placed on them. At least in the Western world, most people have enough sense to reject that crap and make their own fate.

And Madonna is a little late to the rescue because the papps had already been instructed to switch targets from Britney to Miley Cyrus, and I imagine she knew that when she started her save Britney campaign. It seems pretty cynical to me.

Who cares about Madonna anyway? She has a lot to worry about, she adopted one ugly kid. Hint to prospective adoptive parents....stay away from Malawi!!!

and 1:10 you're an idiot. Madge was referring to, I believe, the practice of voodoo or some type of black magic..not the actual suffering in Africa that is obvious- i.e. AIDS, malaria or hunger.

I rather have someone respectable in the music business like Madonna with possible self-motives defending Spears than that shady backstabbing Sam Lufti.
In looking back on the old Spears, she was pretty good. She knew how to throw a really entertaining concert together. She's just lost at the moment. She'll be back. We all manage to get it together crisis after crisis..ALL OF US. So will she.
