Madonna: "Let's Go Save" Britney Spears

 Bryan Bedder/Getty Images Madonna says the media needs to "step off" Britney Spears. "For real... Let's go save her," she told the Yo on E! satellite radio show. Madonna, 49, said 11-year-old daughter Lourdes "gets the drift of what's going on, and I think she feels very protective of Britney." On Thursday, Madonna said she enjoys listening to Spears' Blackout album while exercising. The two singers famously locked lips on the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards and collaborated on the song "Me Against the Music." Madonna – who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month for her 25-year career span – also told E! that she plans to spend the summer in New York and may go on tour in the fall to promote her new album, Hard Candy, out April 29. I like Madonna and all, but everytime I see Madonna, her eye make-up always scares me. I think its those eyelashes. I don't even know why Madonna has blonde hair anymore. I hate her tacky black roots. I can also appreciate Madonna liking to be healthy and stuff, but her body just looks like a bunch of buffed up sticks. There is nothing about her body being feminine. Anyways...... Why does every interview have to turn into something about Britney? Why can't these people just interview the person on what they're supposed to do? I like Madonna and everything, but she just should have said "No comment." I just find it funny that Madonna wants to save Britney now. Where was she last year when Britney was on a path of destruction? Did Madonna care about her than? I think it's true that Madonna stopped associating with Britney, because Britney didn't want to get into Kabalah anymore. Madonna just wants to bring attention to her new album.

Actually, Madonna is making the rounds to promote her new CD so this is probably the appropriate time for her to say something. Had she gone out of her way to make comments about Britney at a time when she had nothing to promote, THAT would be a publicity stunt.

First I would like to say that enough is enough about Britney Spears, She has problems so does everyone else. Just because she is a star doesn't mean she is perfect. No one knows what is going on in her life except what they see on tv. When people keep saying your nothing, abuse you like the media. It is really hard to believe your anything else. Just a big nothing. People don't have to agree with me, and that's ok. There's enough mean and bad people in the world, you don't have to be one of them.

Maisy, I will start by saying I never bought a Spears cd and have no idea what a name of a song she has done. Nothing about her,just not my kind of music. If your number 55 is accurate,what is so bad about that. She is 26 and from what I have read has not done much until recently. She is worth more than 100 million dollars.(that is something to be embarassed about). Please! Get over yourself. Your music really sucks and I can't believe she still sells records although her music is no good. She likes to stir up controversy. I have never heard of anyone say lets go save, Lindsay Lohan, Heath Ledger, Brad Renfro, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Winehouse!!! Two had to die and 3 have to get support from only family. They are the real talent.

Although I love Brit alot, I can give someone credit and say Madonna is a genious. no one can say that anyone (not even the Beatles) have been able to keep the clout they have compared to Madonna. She has never had a plateau in her career, and I've now realized how she does it. She uses a symbiotic relationship with the new "It" star (brit in 2003, Justin in 2008) to enhance her already superstar persona. You all must remember, it is not madonna's job to be brit's savior. This is a business, even though it would have helped her career to help brit, she made a wise choice to separate from brit because it was brit's fault. I love you brit and am glad you're gettin better! and even tho i don't like the anti-madonna talk, i love seeing ppl support Britney again. I love it!

AMEN to all of u who are pissed at Madonna! I've been pissed too with how she treated Brit, and I used to be a Madonna fan. I can't stand fair weather friends and I just hope that if Madonna ever has mental issues she will have a better friend nearby than what she was to Brit, because madonna won't have the strength to pull thru it like Brit has. Every time something bad happens to somone, Madonna turns it into an advertisement for herself; Brit ain't the first, won't be the last.

I agree with all of those who say Madonna is speaking out about Brit for a publicity stunt. Seriously she was close to Brit years ago and then turned because Brit didn't go for Kabalah and she hasn't wanted anything to do with her for years. Brit was always very open about her admiration for Madonna so it would have been nice if Madonna had reached out to Brit when the world saw what was about to happen. Madonna is a genius at Marketing but she can't carry a tune to safe her life and comes across as a cold hard woman who is incredibly selfish.

It;s not up to Madonna, Justin, or any other celebrity to "save" britney...she's an adult and she was rejecting even her family until they initiated legal proceedings. I don't think it's a contradiction for Madonna to say "leave her alone." I think she's referring to paparazzi, not mainstream media, whose exposure can help Britney sell records. Post new comment |
