 Jim Spellman/WireImage.com As Latina magazine reports that Mariah Carey and beau Nick Cannon wed in a "small ceremony on an island" Wednesday, Usmagazine.com has learned Carey's nephew was in the Bahamas this week. The following are Shawn McDonald's status updates to his Facebook profile. 4/27 – Shawn is going to the bahamas for a week early tuesday AM. 4/28 – Shawn is in the Bahamas (enjoying the calm before the storm...) from Tuesday AM till Sat early evening. Shawn is looking forward to this week, but quite curious as to how things will shake out next week... 4/30 – Shawn has a profound appreciation of southern hospitality. Shawn is a witness. Shawn can officially say that what you may or may not have read or heard is not true... 5/1 – Shawn did something tonight he probably won't do for @least another 25+ years... I do not know or care if it's true or not. But one thing I do know is that Nick Cannon in no way, shape, or fashion needs Mariah Carey's money. He is still making money from Nickelodeon, MTV, movies, and his music. Oh, and 3:17...nobody needs to distract from Madonna's newest CD, her horrible singing and girl on girl stunts do that all by themselves.

Mariah's manager is Benny Medina who also used to be the manager of Jennifer Lopez. Everytime Jennifer had a movie or album coming out, she was engaged, married or planning for a wedding and was all over the media when he worked with her. Any publicitiy is good publicity in the entertainment world. Look at Britney... crazy as hell and still gets a #1 song on the chart. I think that's all it is - a big publicity stunt.

I think this is their way of messing around with the paparazzi. I love it. I love Mariah.
