American Idol's Shocking New Sex Scandal
Tuesday March 13, 2007
![]() Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.com The most interesting thing about this season of American Idol is turning out to be the steady stream of sex scandals. First, there was Antonella-gate. Then on Friday March 9, a former assistant production accountant, Magdaleno Olmos, filed a wrongful termination complaint against American Idol Productions, Mario Vasquez, Fremantle Media North America Inc., Fox Entertainment Group Inc., and Fox Broadcasting Co. in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to court papers obtained by The Los Angeles Times, Olmos claims to have been sexually harassed starting in February 2005 by Vasquez, a contestant who dropped out of the show in March 2005. In the lawsuit, Olmos claims that on one occasion Vasquez followed him into the bathroom of the studio where Idol tapes, and asked Olmos "if he wanted oral sex." He then pushed his way into the stall and started masturbating. Olmos fled the bathroom, but alleges that Vasquez, with his pants still down, grabbed him in an effort to stop him. Olmos says that he formally complained to a supervisor, but that he was encouraged to "keep this information to himself." The suit also claims that Vasquez bowed out of the show once Idol began to investigate the complaint, but at the time Vasquez insisted he dropped out of the fourth season of the hit show to work on personal aspects of his life. Olmos claims to have been fired in May 2005 as a direct result of his sexual harassment complaint. He is suing for unspecified damages.
