Mel B to Eddie: 'Be Responsible' About Fathering Baby

Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown, who gave birth to her daughter Angel Iris one month ago today, claims that not only does Eddie Murphy know that he’s the father of her baby, but the pregnancy was planned!

Last December, Murphy publicly denied that he fathered the child, telling a Dutch television station, “We don’t know whose child it is until it comes out and has a blood test.”

Now, Brown tells Extra that Murphy, 46, is refusing to take a paternity test.

“The crazy thing is, this baby was planned, and he knows it’s his,” Brown said. “This is what is mind-boggling.”

Brown, 31, has a message for her ex: “Be responsible. It’s as simple as that.”

Still, the singer told Extra there are no hard feelings, even saying, “He’ll always be a part of my heart, Eddie.”

In fact, the baby was even born on the comedian’s birthday. Brown joked, “I think my child has a cosmic sense of humor.”

I would love to know how according to statistics, the majority of deadbeat dads in every state in the US are black when we are only around 11% of the population. Black people are not even prevalent in most states.

Philadelphia (A city, not even most of the state)
Virginia (D.C.)
Carolinas
Louisiana
Mississippi
Georgia
Florida

I may have missed one or 2 states, but that's about it. And black people aren't even half the majority in those states, so it can't possibly make up for for the other 40. Why don't you post some credible links with some FACTS, not statistics. There's a difference between facts and statistics too just in case you don't know.

Eddie Murphy is just like any other man. He wanted to hit it and quit it. He had no plans of having a baby with Mel B. This is such a typical scenario that we see all of the time. The only difference is that Eddie Murphy is a well established actor with money. Mel B is a has been and she needs money, so she is playing the game of "pregnancy hustle"! I do not think that this situation is going to get Eddie down, but he needs to settle it by getting a paternity test.

Thanks for the stats. I had to pop back in to see what was going on. I didn't realize that my first comment would spark this much controversy. I am glad I did though, because it got people talking and maybe not everyone agreed, but it got people talking! This is a serious issue in the world today and the bottom line is the children are the ones who suffer in the end, and is that really fair to them?!! I am not a racist, I would just like to see everyone, no matter the issue, take responsibility for their actions. How can we as adults teach children to be respectful of others and to own up to their mistakes when public figures, such as actors, athletes, politician, etc, people that the children of today may look up to, are acting in such a disgraceful way. I only chose to respond to the Eddie/Melanie issue because it is something I have seen first hand in my community, a black community.
