I am not for Universal Healthcare in the Canadian sense. But I do believe that the US healthcare system is broken and absurd.

Any American who believes that our system is working should have his head examined (assuming you could afford it).

A prosperous nation with nearly 50 million Americans with no access to affordable healthcare is obscene and immoral.

Of course, who actually cares about morality anymore?

I don't wanna hear your only excuse for smearing our healthcare. If I break something be it an ankle, wrist, finger, whatever.... I walk in get it fixed and walk out. You cannot say the same thing. I know about your private healthcare plans that will look for any loop-hole just so they can deny you the coverage. I just hope you NEVER get injured or sick. To the person who went on a rampage about saying Canada's wait times are really long.. lets get one thing straight...if there is anything wrong with you that is life-threatening or you are in imminent danger, there is NO WAIT TIMES. You are bumped up to priority and everything needed to save you is done FOR FREE!! If its a non-life treatening sports injury or something of the sort...well lets say we do have to wait...I would rather wait for an undisclosed amount of time and keep my house...do you have $500 000 for some surgeries? I highly doubt that...so don't knock our system that takes care of everyone WHO NEEDS IT...albeit some do wait longer, but that only depends on what they need. Your surgeon can help you tomorrow if you bring him a $250000 check...can you do that? I doubt it.
And to you who deem yourselves soo smart to tell US how things run IN OUR OWN country, make sure you get your facts straight..where are you getting them from?? CNN??

That compares with 78% of Americans, a statisical tie. After a first heart attack, the Americans cut nearly 50% of the time compared with 20% in Canada. Canadian doctors try to insist on diet and exercise. After 4 1/2 years 79% of the Americans were still alive and 78% of the Canadians were; again a statistical tie. Two Canadian physicians stated that if they got sick, they wanted to be in Canada. Several of my American friends lived in Canada and claimed their health care was equal to U. S. health care. Also, the part about the excessive waiting times expressed above is a total myth. I addition, my family and I lived two years in Vienna, Austria in their socialized system and our health care was most satisfactory.

More alarmingly, Canadians waited some 42 weeks from GP referral to treatment for joint replacement.

What an extraordinarily stupid thing to say. You don't pay taxes here, you're not a citizen, etc., etc. Just a couple of really great reasons why you don't get to vote here.

Why don't you take care of the problems in your own country....Universal Health Care, huh? Just how long do you have to wait to see a specialist? I know a few Canadians working in the U.S., and they much prefer our health care system to yours. It's not perfect, by any means, and it needs to be more affordable for all U.S. citizens (translation: no Canadians crossing over the border, and no ILLEGAL immigrants), but it's better than most.

I just wanted to respond to anon 3:09 who said to let him/her know when Canada decides to get involved in something. I would like to ask you to check your facts before you make statements that are unfounded. Canada is involved in the war in Afghanistan, but hopefully they will be pulling out of that 2009 unless they get more support from other NATO allies. So there you go. Just because we didn't want to join a war that was unfounded doesn't make us an un-involved country. We were just smart enough to see through your president's bullS***.
I come from a war-torn country actually (we immigrated to Canada in 1994) and I really cannot understand the few Americans left that still support war. The reason they do is because you have not seen war firsthand and do not understand it. You're all fine and well invading other countries, but I'd love to see how war-happy you'd be if one actually found you in your own backyard.

I can only guess that Mr. Moore would like to have seen a candidate that represented PROGRESSIVE CHANGE with a not-for-profit health care plan as he suggested in his movie "Sicko".
That would have given health care to EVERYONE!

You can thank the MSM(CNN,ABC,NBC & MSNBC) and their parent companies(Time Warner,Disney & GE) for excluding the only candidate that had such a plan, Mr.Kucinich and at the same time manipulating our democratic process by promoting the corporate politicians as front runners.

Lest we forget, Michael Moore was the first to criticise Bush for invading Iraq and he did it 0n the 2002 Oscar Award Show. That makes him a hero in my estimation. And every one present booed him on that day; they were the idiots.

Michael Moore was leaning towards Edwards previously. His web site is heavily leaning towards Obama now, but as he points out quite cogently, a lot questions remain unanswered for Obama.

He understands everything Hillary has gone through personally since 1992 and it hasn't been pretty. She was pounded very hard and very unfairly by a media that was always against the Clintons. He defended her throughout, but feels he cannot do so anymore with her record on the war.

Then again, he did endorse Wesley Clark in 2004, which in retrospect was a big mistake. I guess he was moved by the argument that Bush needed to be ousted at all costs which turned him against a Nader run. He begged alongside Bill Maher on TV for Nader not to run!!

And as for Americans being brainwashed, you just have to see the enormous venom on the internet directed against Michael Moore, who is by far the most patriotic American there is in the film industry. He has consistently stuck his neck out to point out America's flaws, so that the country can really fulfill its promise. However, the US is sadly full of armchair patriots and "love it or leave it" folks cut from the same cloth as the brownshirts.
