Mischa Barton Put on Three Years Probation for DUI

An attorney for Mischa Barton entered a plea of no contest in her DUI case Thursday in a Beverly Hills courthouse.

Barton, 22, did not attend the hearing.

The former O.C. star was put on three years' probation, ordered to attend a three-month alcohol education program and fined $1,652.

As part of her plea, the marijuana possession charges were dropped.

"She understands the gravity of this whole thing and that she made a mistake," her attorney, Anthony Salerno, told reporters. "But I'm sure she's glad that it is resolved, and she obviously has some work to do."

Barton was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and driving without a license in February after an arrest in West Hollywood last December.

1:43, actually her punishment is pretty typical for ALL first time offenders. If you have no prior convictions you don't usually have to do any jail time. I don't think she received special treatment here, 3 years probation is fair for a first offense. NOW, if she violates her probation she should DEFINITLY have to do some time. That is why Paris went to jail because she was a repeat offender. Paris should have done a minimum of 90 days.
