Morgan Freeman "Doing Well" After Surgery

Morgan Freeman is recovering after undergoing surgery Monday following his weekend car accident in Mississippi.

"Morgan is doing well after surgery last night to reconnect nerves and to repair damage to his left arm and hand," his rep tells Entertainment Tonight. "He is in good spirits and was visiting with family members this morning."

His rep tells ET that The Dark Knight star, 71, was walking around this morning after the four-and-a-half-hour surgery.

He is expected to be released in a few days.

The actor was listed in serious condition after his car careened off the highway and overturned twice before landing upright in a ditch around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was removed from the wreck using the jaws of life, then airlifted to a hospital in Memphis.
