I am working on my master's and PhD in international health, with emphasis on Africa and it's a PROVEN FACT that mosquito repellant bed nets drastically reduce the number of malarial infections. Children, ages 5 and under, are most susceptible to this infection and mosquitoes are most prominent in the morning and evening, so if childrens' beds are protected by these nets during these times (when they are usually asleep anyway) 1000's of lives can be saved. Nets only cost a few dollars, but unfortunately, even a couple dollars is way out of the price range for most impoverished African families.

I'm not a big fan of Bono, but his heart is in the right place, and in this case, he's correct.
