Balloon Boy Vomits -- Twice -- on TV

Friday – October 16, 2009 – 9:44am

Six-year-old-son Falcon Heene - who was feared to have floated away on a "homemade flying saucer" Thursday in Colorado - is clearly not used to speaking with the press.

At the beginning of an interview on ABC's Good Morning America Friday, Falcon was asked how he's doing. "I feel good so far," he said.

But when he was asked why he told reporters Thursday that he was hiding "for a show," he turned to his mother, former Wife Swap star Mayumi, and said: "Mom, I feel like I'm going to vomit."

His mother then led him out of the room and he could be heard gagging.

During another interview that that aired simultaneously on NBC's Today, Falcon vomited into a container when his father was answering the same question. (His father, Richard, and Meredith Vieira kept on chatting while the boy threw up.)

On all the morning talk shows Friday, Heene strongly denied that the incident was a hoax.

"I'm not selling anything. This is what we do all the time," he said on Good Morning America. "I don't have a can of beans I'm trying to promote. This is just another day in the life of what we do."

The father is looking for another paycheck on a reality show. He has the little boy afraid to tell the truth. I think the whole thing was staged to get publicity.

They were looking to get a show on TLC. They are bogus!

I don't trust the father, they all look like they are afraid of him, the mother included. When I saw him ranting on wife swap he gave me the creeps. I think this family needs to be watched by social workers.

"The boy was scared - scared of the father yelling at him for telling the truth - "doing it for the show" response. Probably shy and timid. Now that he told the truth - the parents really scared him so much that his stomach is upset." Totally agree with you. His media-seeking-celebrity-wannabe-fame-wh$%in'-area51-ET-chasing parents are stressing him out!

I blame CNN, ABC, and others for not having the decency to just interview the parents. Those kids were so fidgety sitting through an hour on Larry King Live with the 3 of them sharing 2 chairs. Shame on the parents as well for not refusing having the kids there. If the kid said it was for a show, then if it was not a hoax, his father should have asked the kid to explain what he meant instead of taking over. I don't think it was a hoax; if one is clever enough to scheme just a hoax, surely he is clever enough to keep the kids out of the interviews.

If this was a hoax, among many negative adjectives, these parents are stupid. If it were a hoax, why would not the parents appear in the interviews by themselves, simply saying their son and other children were still upset. So I am not sure it was a hoax but will say these are very strangely acting people.

This couple was sickening on Wife Swap, and just as sickening now. I hope they can prove it was a hoax and CPS keeps their eyes open.

Why would this kid only get sick when the same question was asked of him? He's been on TV before so I'm not really sure why this is so "upsetting" for him. This family is pathetic.

Poor little guy, he was probably scared! I don't think that the little boy is to blame for any of this though, even if it is a hoax, and I haven't researched it enough to know if it is or not. All I know is that people need to leave this child alone! He is just a little boy! Let the parents talk to the media, he should never have been on TV anyway.

The little boy get sick when asked about "doing this for the show." What do you bet he was bullied or even beaten after the CNN show last night, for saying what he did? A kid wouldn't get sick like that unless he felt he was under extreme duress.

I live in Denver and watched the news coverage in it's entirety. I'm glad Falcon is safe but the epilogue of this family's media craving behavior makes me sick. Denver Channel 7 website has video of balloon launch from family backyard. Contrary to what father said about being in the house, he was right there and watched as craft lifted off. Falcon is telling the truth, Dad is lying and should be arrested for false use of emergency personnel and shutting down Denver Airport for 3 hours. Even people who are lost in the mountains have to pay for search and rescue and so should the Heenes.

Looks like the Heenes have taught their child to vomit on cue. More evidence they need to have their parenting practices checked out by Colorado state authorities. Richard Heene should be locked up for his hoax.

The fatehr didn't even care that his kid was vomiting and just kept talking. Sick parents, if it wasn't a hoax then why do u feel the need to explain - go care for your sick child and be a real parent!

HE PROBABLY HAS THE STOMACH BUG OR SOME VIRUS AND NOW HE IS PASSING IT ONTO OTHERS. Wow a tv show is more important than taking care of your sick kid. What is wrong with these parents now a days... if your kid is vomiting you leave!
