Band From TV to Donate Proceeds of Album Sales to Charity

Wednesday – October 21, 2009 – 3:00pm

Band From TV is taking their latest charitable fundraiser to the Internet.

The music group -- which includes Heroes' Greg Grunberg, Desperate Housewives' James Denton, former Bachelor Bob Guiney, House's Jesse Spencer and TV actress Bonnie Somerville -- will donate funds raised from every $1.99 Amazon.com sale of their Hoggin All The Covers album to charity.

Members of the band have requested that funds from Wednesday's one-day-only sale go directly to the National Epilepsy Foundation, TalkAboutIt.org, Save the Children, The Conservation Fund, The Art of Elysium, the Child Abuse Prevention Program and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Making their first appearance as a group at a 2006 Emmy afterparty, Band From TV donates every dollar raised from their performances to charity, with the Amazon.com partnership being their most recent philanthropic effort.

See the day's top celeb news photos.

"My oldest son has epilepsy and I saw this band as a wonderful vehicle to help raise money for the National Epilepsy Foundation," Grunberg, who founded the cover band, has said. "Having band mates who also happen to be in some of the most popular shows on television creates an amazing opportunity to really reach out to our fans to help support these wonderful causes."

Check out the ways other celebs give back to charity.

Fans can download a digital copy of the 13-track album, dubbed an MP3 Daily Deal, at Amazon.com before midnight to help the group in their effort to give back.

This is a very small picture but on the piano there is House's Hugh Laurie who is an original member of the band and is on the CD and not Jesse Spencer who has joined the BFTV since the CD was made. Jesse is a wonderful addition. Hugh did the arrangement for "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "Minnie The Moocher" which was available in download only and sadly does not appear on this CD or the House CD. Lester Holt (NBC News) was featured on the "Minnie" recording. This is the second time Hugh has performed "Minnie The Moocher" the first time being as Bertie Wooster in A&E's Jeeves and Wooster with Stephen Fry. I am sure you didnâ??t mean to omit him from your article.

May I please make a correction in your BFTV article. Hoggin' All The Covers is an excellent album, done to benefit many charities and while Jesse Spencer presently plays with the band, he is not featured on this album. Another member of the House cast, the good doctor himself, Hugh Laurie is featured on the album and in the photo you've used for the article. He plays keyboards and sings and his charity of choice is Save The Children. Another great reason to give this CD/DVD a listen and help out many worthwhile charities all at the same time.
