Late-night screenings of Michael Jackson's This Is It have earned $2.2 million at the North America box office, the Associated Press reports.
Based on rehearsal footage shot while Jackson -- who died in June at age 50 -- was preparing for his series of comeback concerts in London, the movie premiered worldwide Tuesday night. Sony, the documentary's distributor, said the opening night numbers were "unprecedented" for a Tuesday in October.
