So You Think You Can Dance Judge to Make Broadway Debut

Monday – October 26, 2009 – 9:28am

So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy is headed to Broadway!

The former world champion ballroom dancer and choreographer is set to appear in the dance production Burn the Floor for a one-night-only performance on Dec. 22.

Meet this season's SYTYCD top 20 contestants.

Murphy, who surprised TV fans by performing a samba with SYTYCD alum -- and current Dancing With the Stars pro Dmitry Chaplin -- during season four of the FOX series, will make her Broadway debut with ballroom champion Vaidas Skimelis.

Created by producer Harley Medcalf and choreographed/directed by Jason Gilkison, Burn the Floor has featured performances by former SYTYCD contestants Pasha Kovalev, Anya Garnis, Artem Chigvintsev and Dancing With the Stars' Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The reality TV judge, who recently described to Us how she endured almost a decade of sexual and physical assault in a former marriage, will donate proceeds from her appearance to San Diego's Center for Community Solutions, an organization aimed at preventing sexual assault and treating victims of relationship violence.
