The judge in Britney Spears' custody case has had harsh words for the pop star, but at least Spears is getting positive feedback in the court of musical opinion.
In fact, many reviewers have declared her new album, Blackout, the pop singer’s first album in four years, a major hit.
The AP’s music writer describes the club-y 12-song disc as, “not only a very good album, [but] it’s her best work ever - a triumph, with not a bad song to be found.”
The BBC went on to hail Spears’ song “Piece of Me” (with lyrics like: “I’m Miss American Dream since I was 17” and “Guess I can’t see no harm in working and being a mama”) as a “masterpiece.”
Even reviews that diss Spears’ can’t help but fawn a little. The Chicago Tribune’s critic writes, “Blackout is by far the most musically accomplished of Spears’ five studio albums” before slamming her as being “devoid of personality.”
“Gimme More,” the first single from Spears’ fifth album, is number 13 on this week's Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and Blackout is currently ranked the number one most downloaded album on iTunes.

i am surprised a bit, her album is better than you'd think a pop star on the flameout would be. its actually quite good. but the events and bad taste of the britney disaster kind of hang over it, so i guess thats kinda sad.

Alot of places I went to are not selling the B*tchney album at all. In fact the Eagles would technically have the #1 album next week if Wal-mart not been too scared to release the amount of Eagles CDs they sold as their new album is destroying hers. I went to get the new Eagles CD Tuesday and there were not many left of the new Eagles album as it is flying off the shelves (I also bought Queen's double live Queen Rock Montreal CD as well Tuesday) whereas B*tchney's album Blackout is not selling. In fact, it's not selling at all. Jive inflates the sales and the truth is her sales are crashing down BIG TIME whereas real bands like The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and so forth will continue to resonate musically into the next few decades. For the record, B*tchney decides to pillage metal albums and/or song titles as her album Blackout had its title stolen from the German metal gods The Scorpions' 1982 breakthrough album that made them superstars also called Blackout.

To The Dude who said The Eagles s*ck (S*CK IT), if Pink Floyd had put a new studio album out against Britney, they would have slaughtered her sl*tty ass. Pink Floyd's Echoes 2-CD best of may have been outsold by Britney's 2001 album Britney in 2001 (however the two were responsible for kicking Michael Jackson to #3) but Echoes (which is a 2-disc best of) continues to sell today whereas Britney hasn't sold squat since 2001. I take you hate Pink Floyd too. If you don't know who Syd Barrett is then you are NOT a Pink Floyd fan. Floyd were not a studio creation whereas Britney is, they wrote performed and produced their albums and were not a studio creation. Plus they re-wrote the rule book on concert spectacles. The wig wearing psycho woman needs to either die or be in an asylum. She hates you fans. Real bands are Pink Floyd, Queen, Rush, Genesis, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, The BEatles and The Scorpions. Sh*t music is Britney, Justin, Beyonce, The Flaming Lips (bunch of whiners) and Radiohead.

When will she learn how to sing? Just heard her c.d on KIIS FM, it sucked! What is so good about it. She talks on all her songs and some sound computerized! Get real people! All of her fans are responsible for her behavior. She acts the way she does, because she knows all these wannabe hoochified Britney fans will always be blind and buy her c.d's. It seems you all believe all the other gossip about other celebrities, but never Britney's.

She's washed up and fat. her body will never be like it used to. She's trashy and I can't believe people thought it was a good idea for her to be a mom. She's doesn't know the first thing about being a parent. If she cared she would do what's required of her by the court and for her KIDS! The only way she gets noticed is for doing stupid $#it. The album may be good, but these tactics to get her back in the game are weak. Just cause you have Timbaland making beats and rappers sampling their flows for songs like "gimme more" doesn't exactly require the talent of Britney.
