Nikki is a cool girl. She had a very interesting run on Idol and even tho 3rd place is fantastic, I can see how she would stil come out with lowered self esteem... in turn adding to the reasons she drank and did drugs. I don't think she's blaming anyone... just citing a factor, however small, that effected her actions her feelings, her addiction. Yes, she signed up for a talent competition that would inevitably lead to her being critiqued. But at times, Simon does get hostile and nasty as opposed to being helpful and constructively critical. So even though she signed up for it, she is human and will have feelings about the way she was treated when it gets disrespectful. Sidenote: In general, I'm so confused about why people get on this site and others like it just to leave mean empty comments. Comments without substance, just posessing a nasty sentiment are a waste of your time to write and ours to read.

Oh brother. She was told by teachers and family (probably at the expense of her classmates)that she was wonderful to the point she suffered delusions. When Simon critiqued her on a professional level, she found out she wasn't as cute or as talented as she once thought, so she is whinning like a baby. She's blaming her drinking on Simon which is a laugh. Grow up. Welcome to the real world. You aren't in high school anymore honey. Guess what, you ain't cute after all. Blame your parents and teachers.

Yep, you've graduated to a true alcoholic and drug addict when you blame someone else for your abuse issues. I'm just guessing here, but I'd bet you that Simon didn't buy you one pill or a bottle of anything! You're in the old, "watch me hurt myself" mode. You're admitting that you have a problem, which is the first step, now get your life and house in order and quit blaming anyone but yourself! A better way to look at is;
a) I have a drug and alcohol problem.
b) The dependency that I've developed is my fault, nobody else's.
c) I'm the only one in control of my life.
d) I make choices everyday from the moment I wake up.
e) Make the right choices.
f) Don't blame anyone else for your own chemical dependency.
g) You are altering your own mind and your own state of mind, not Simon.
h) Love your life and your family enough to see the real problem and then put your BIG GIRL panties on and deal with it.

Nikki needs to take responsibility for her own actions and not blame anyone but her.

Simon is still a mean, self centered jerk and the reason why I have only watched 1 episode of American Idol ever. He certainly thinks the entertainment world revolves around his word. Criticism is one thing, but the cruel personal insults are uncalled for.

If she can't handle a little criticism from a judge on a reality show then she doesn't have a chance in the recording industry. I read the article, I realize that the headline is over dramatizing what she said about Simon, but still and all if you can't handle rejection then you have no business being in a job that is 100% subject to others opinions.

Simon didn't put alcohol to her lips and make her use drugs. As a singer/contestant you put yourself out there for criticism. If she couldn't handle criticism then she have never tried out for the show. Stop blaming someone else for your hang ups....
