Watch out, William Hung! American Idol’s eighth season kicked off last night with a handful of hopefuls who gave the infamous “She Bangs” singer a run for his money. Take a look at some of the best of the worst Idol’s season premiere had to offer.

Mesa, Ariz., 17-year-old Gurr dares to do what many auditioners would deem unthinkable: cover a tune by an actualAmerican Idol! Offering up Season Four champ Carrie Underwood’s “Starts With Goodbye,” a nervous Gurr “could have been singing in Bulgarian,” if you ask Simon Cowell. His warbling performance was so bad, in fact, that he made himself ill during the process and needed the help of show paramedics after his audition.
