Anne Hathaway: "I Was Afraid of Obama the First Time I Saw Him"

"I was kind of afraid of Obama the first time I saw him," she told the Associated Press at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. "I thought, 'I've been burned by guys like you before.' "I've been burned by politicians before that I wanted to believe in and just didn't live up to it," the newly single star explained. "And I was afraid to trust him and I was afraid to have hope when I first kind of became aware of him." She said she had a change of heart "around the time that he gave his speech on race. "I just said, 'I can't deny how I feel about you, Barack Obama. I want you to be the president. I want you in the White House,'" she said. See Barack Obama's biggest celeb fans. Not only does she believe Obama can "cause change," she said, but "he understands how hard it is. "I just heard the other day, he just paid off his student loans two years ago," she said. Hathaway is among the famous faces under the Creative Coalition banner who are attending DNC luncheons and forums to discuss issues facing the Democratic Party. She said she isn't against the idea of celebrities being politically active. She said there is a perception that "we're all out of touch. How could we possibly have an awareness of what real Americans feel and think and need because we just ride around in limos and - I don't know - buy diamonds all day long? "But I don't know anyone like that," Hathaway went on. "I'm certainly not like that. I'm a passionate American, and that's what I am first and foremost." I think Anne's being fooled by a professional con-man is indicative only of the purity of her own heart, that she can't comprehend someone being deceptive in an intimate relationship. Or that someone would pretend to be something they're not, when she would never consider it. It's a judgment only upon the person that deceives, not the person deceived. If you've never been deceived, perhaps it's because you yourself are only too aware of the games people play, having been a player yourself. I'm sorry you don't understand what it means to be pure of heart.

Democrats are equally as guilty if not worse when it comes to rhetoric and favoring corporate America. Bill Clinton - A DEMOCRAT - full on got in bed as a business partner with his largest corporate donor Ron Burkle. He is notorious for being lobbied for corporate favors, how on earth do you think he built his library? Pay for Play. All political candidates, like actors, have to sell their souls along the way, they don't get to be their own person, they had to have help to get there and they owe a lot of favors, that is the same across the democratic party and the republican party. The difference is, Republicans don't lie about who and what they are, they stand for something even if you disagree at least they aren't BS-ing you.

It's nice to see that people are starting to get more involved with the well being of our country. Not just Anne Hathaway, but look at all the posts! Whoever you like as a future president is o.k. with me, we all have different morals and opinions. I personally like Obama as of now, (by the way...I am white) but I will judge my final decision on the final debate where they go head to head. That way we get past the mud-slinging and they can defend themselves for all of us to see. Obama is one of the best speakers I've seen in quite a while. The race for presidency is going to very exciting. I bet it's the best voter turn out ever!
